Re: Ads on the site
it happened again where i could screen shot it. page loading stops, bottom left says "waiting for rover.ebay", page 404s and cant load the website for 6-10 minutes. its probably a script that sees adblockers and makes the site unavailable to the IP address for that time.

Re: Ads on the site
I have not been on here much. As some know, both of my parents fell ill this fall. Both are in a hospice stage of life and our time is pretty much for family right now. Josh has a immediate family member whom is quite sick out of state right now. My sons closest friend(our bonus kids) mom was sent to the hospital unresponsive and is not looking great as of yesterday. Our niece is getting married Saturday. My cousin was in to see my parents for the last time this past week. Other family is coming in next week.
I fully understand the frustration with ads. I also understand it had been worked on and thought to be fixed. If this was in site feedback, it would email me everytime someone posted. Here in general discussion it is hit or miss, if I see it. I honestly did not want to throw my business out there. I feel like I had to. I understand being a paying member. I get the frustrations. I also wish for those to understand (as I did mention in post 40) that there are larger issues consuming our time right now. Yes it will be resolved. Yes we appreciate screen shots more than I can convey. And yes it will be looked at. Thanks |

Re: Ads on the site
Liz, thanks for the explanation when such a through explanation was not needed. If the ad pop ups were the only frustration one had to deal with in life it is of no consequence when one stops and considers your current situation.
Sorry life is presenting you with such a load for your family to handle at this point. Take care of family first and foremost, anything else can take a back seat in the priority of things. Good thoughts and prayers sent your way.

Re: Ads on the site
One way to steer around this issue for those experiencing it is to change things up at your end for the time being. I don't know enough about these things to know if that's a ridiculous idea or not. But there are those of us who aren't having any issue at all. I know it's easy to speak when I'm not experiencing this issue. And I know no one had any idea this problem would exist for so long. Just trying to throw a positive solution till this gets worked out. If that's not feasible, then I apologize for my ignorance. When there is a problem with no known solution, I start digging for one That's just my nature. sometimes it works

Re: Ads on the site
AS mentioned in earlier posts, you can also try a ad blocker. I don't normally have one so I can see right away wehn there are issues. I recently added UBlock to my Firefox browser until Josh gets a breather in life to look at things more. If you are using a different browser, you can utilize one of those mentioned earlier.

Re: Ads on the site
Not sure what others are seeing, but all I get is a pop-up at the bottom of each page. There is a down arrow on the left side -- clicking it makes the ad disappear. That works for me until a fix is implemented. Not a big deal.

Re: Ads on the site
That is it Stocker. Now that I think about it, it doesn't/never did it on my phone browser, just the computers. So must not effect the mobile versions.

Re: Ads on the site
I'm getting these pop-ups on a few other sites too. It's pretty annoying. Josh/Liz may not have any control over these. I have not installed any blockers. (yet)

I also loaded U Block to Firefox, as I was having tons of ads on other sites. So far it works great.

Re: Ads on the site
Ads are much worse today . Every other post has an ad inserted . Makes the whole experience not pleasant . I was under the impression that premium members got an ad free site . I don’t get ads on any other forums I belong to just here . Like I said it not a pleasant experience so I may be on a lot less

Re: Ads on the site
I went from not getting these ads this morning to now getting them. I thought it might be due to changes I made with my phone this morning. It started happening when I came back to here. It's a long story, but I had to start a Google acct and now I have the ads. I use my laptop for this website and my phone and laptop aren't synced. Seeing you have a different problem than before shows maybe something changed on the site here and my phone has nothing to do with it. I have visited other forums that show ads between posts and never went back. Hate it!

Re: Ads on the site
Here--I am not getting the pop up from the bottom, but just like you there are ads just about in between every post and at the top of the page. I think the website has been hacked. If this keeps up, I don't think I'll renew my membership and maybe move on. I've dropped 3 other websites---which was a bonus, cuz it makes me go out to the garage and actually get something done

Re: Ads on the site
Not sure what I'm doing correctly. I have two laptops, one running windows 10 and my new one running the latest version. I'm using Firefox and Duck Duck go. I pretty much have everything windows related shut down as much as I know how (maybe its not running in the background as much as others are?) Anyway Ive had zero issues on either computer. Wish I was smarter about the inner workings I have going (probably accidentally) so I could help others.
Side note, I do have a small add at the top of my old I phone when I use it to access the board. A new thing but not bothersome though.

Re: Ads on the site
That's what I am seeing also, starting today. And I have made no changes on my end. Like you say, probably hacked.

Re: Ads on the site
Im not suggesting anyone is doing anything incorrectly, I get that everything is the same on their end as they were before, but now with ads.
Im saying I wish I was smart enough computer wise to know why Im having zero problems and maybe help tweak settings for others to stop the ads even though its site related. When Im on the HAMB, but not logged in, I get inundated with ads, its beyond horrible ... But when I log in all that garbage goes away. I guess its their way of forcing you to log in. Maybe something going on with those settings here? ... Im the last person you want trying to make a message board function heh. EDIT: Im in no way suggesting Josh is pulling a HAMB on us, was just saying maybe its a clue to where the hiccup is.

Re: Ads on the site
I am using Firefox and have installed Ublock Origin, extension.
It fixed my ad issue a month ago. As of today the ads haven't returned. I recommend it for everyone using Firefox. Cheers |
