Going against the norm

Decided to put the white letters out . Kinda shocked my tire installer but it seems every truck I see including mine are all blackwall. Figure if I don’t like it after a while I can always flip them to blackwalls . Now I need to get it off the stands

Re: Going against the norm

And it’s amazing how much less weights it took to balance these as apposed to the old tires

My Bronco and F150 have the white letters out, I'm a fan on it.

Face it Mark. You're just a rebel.

I think they look great but I've always been a fan of white letters.

It makes me wish that I'd run them on my truck. Too late for that now. I just bought new tires.

I’m sure some have had issues with Michelin’s but I can say I never have. Have ran them on trucks and SUV’s with no problems.

I like it. I've always thought raised white letters were cool looking.

Re: Going against the norm

Back in the day I always tried to run the Goodyear Polyglas GT tires with the small letters. Just too cool!

ETA- I had a set of them on my '40 Chevy business man's coupe, and at 100MPH that thing was all over the road. Made it fun at the top of the quarter, is all I can say. I sold it to pay for my wife's engagement ring and the guy I sold it to put Goodyear Eagle something or other radials and tamed it right down.

I don't think they look good on every vehicle, but on a classic, you bet.

Re: Going against the norm

For me it's white letters on the 1/2 ton and blackwalls on the 3/4 ton

I would never even consider running them on my Cadillac. When I put new tires on my car the tire place tried to sell me blackwalls. No way. A stock Cadillac needs whitewalls. It's the law.

Customs are a different story.

Re: Going against the norm

I remember when running blackwalls was against the norm. When raised white letters came out you didn't see many turn them in.

I've always run blackwalls, unless it was a vehicle that called for whitewalls (narrow), such as with wheelcovers. One time I forgot to tell the installed to turn the letters in on my '92 K2500. I waas disappointed when I saw that happen, but decided I liked the look it gave the primarily stock work truck. Gave a sporty element to the strictly business look. Went well with the polished stainless tip of the Banks exhaust.

Looks just fine on your truck

I thought it dressed up my truck I had with the white letters out , but one rub against a curb and it takes away the appeal in a hurry .

Re: Going against the norm

You can bet I’ll always have my white letters showing. I always keep about 5 bottles of Wesley’s Bleach White around my house too......don’t wanna run out and let my letters get yellow.

My uncle used to put the white walls on the drivers side and black on the passenger side. One day I asked him why . He said he liked the witewalls on the car but my aunt used the braille method of parallel parking .

White letters all the way, especially on an 80's truck.
