Re: Project OverKill

Thanks guys! Just got my FCG tank from Rust Buster (Tim), a big thanks to Tim!!! Took the guts out, nylon cup brushed it clean and will be shot in Powder Coat Mirror Gloss Black....soon! It's sitting on the top rail and goes underneath...I knows that, lol! As you can see, Tim did some fab work on the rails to fit his leaf sprung truck...it won't make a bit of difference when it's bolted in mine.

Well for my application, it had to be black. Frame is a darkish gray/silver, and everything else has to be black...other than the orange calipers. Just my theme, or preferance I guess.

Re: Project OverKill

6-28-08 marks 1 year to the day since I got this sweet 68' truck. My original plan was to have the tear down and restored rolling frame complete at the one year mark, but I got side tracked and mucho dinero got tied up building the 496. Focus now is finishing suspension with RE7 Bags, in order to have complete the rolling bagged 496.

I know all about missing deadlines. I should probably be on my third truck by now. It is life though. Happy one year with your truck!!!

Re: Project OverKill

Been sanding and scuffing up the original Orange paint. Today was the day to shoot the SPI black epoxy. The black really shows me where the imperfections are and what needs attention. Still going to change out (weld) both rockers. Interior was all sprayed except where the DynaMat will go.

Re: Project OverKill

Now I feel slow... Looking sweet! Did you shoot that in your shop?. And just out of curiosity, why not shoot where the Dynamat will go? Just a waste of primer? Keep it up!

Yes, shot it right where it sits, in the GatorHyde booth. The paint on the floor of the cab is pretty much unmarred and not rusted...so no need to waste primer there. So yeah...trying not to waste primer and get away with a gallon of epoxy for the whole truck. Thanks Mike!
