They both look pretty restorable.

Great trucks for some interesting projects at a reasonable price to boot.

I didn't get that part either.

Edit: I get it now. I believe he is telling us that it is a 3 Axle (Tandem Axle) truck.

I think that's what he means. You can see in one pic of the red truck the one front axle and the two rear axles, making three axles altogether.

Re: 1954 GMC for sale not mine

Studda------Thanks for the pics on those 2 900s . I lusted for those fat cab models about 10 years ago, bought an 850 with 503 gas out of Rhode Island, then a 740 with 503 gas that sat in a New York barnyard for 20 years, then a rare 700 with a 318 big 6 cylinder rngine from a farmer almost on the Virginia border in southeast West Virginia . Wanted diesel so I got a 650 with 4-71 in Ohio, then at the Fontana, Ca. ATHS auction I bought a 750 fat cab with 4-71 geared with 5 and 3 spd. aux. I gave away the first 2 gas jobs, delivered the 700 plus the 650 diesel to a guy east of Pittsburg , then sold the California truck to another guy in Pennsylvania. These trucks shown have the air cleaner mounted on the cowl as did the California truck I had . The original oil baths were messy plus owners opted for outside air intake rather than underhood . These Jimmy's were a great looking truck in it's time in the 50s, and the rare 980 had a 100,000 lb. GVW with 12.00x 24 tires. In 57 they could have the 6-71T, which must have been trouble because GM Diesel pulled it back off the market . Then DD re-released the 6-71T in the mid '70s.
