Wow, looks great! What is the difference between the NV and NP4500s?

thanks! some day it will be a whole truck i can drive.

well the elusive np4500 gives you 100 more horsepower and allows fitment of larger tires,IF you can find one..

I'm guessing it implys where the case was made?

Re: 70 k20 build that somehow turned into a frame off resto-swap

found the pollak 42-300p kit from ase supply inc delivered when i got home today. 65 psi rating,4 inlets 2 outlets.also had a junk yard tell me they'd sell me saddle tanks to cut the tops out of for ten dollars,i just have to get two the forks on their loader "modified".

i'll weld the recess for the senders onto my saddle tanks and buy new 87 truck tbi saddle tank senders and put ac delco ep381's on them.should work since both tanks are 10"deep.

since the pollak valve has barb fittings i'll just use efi hose and efi clamps from tanks to selector valve with the stock 2000 fuel rails run down to the switch valve.then cut the donor rails and use compression/barb fittings with more efi hose and clamps to the valve, rather than all the AN,braided stainless teflon fanciness.

Re: 70 k20 build that somehow turned into a frame off resto-swap

i managed to procure and hack up some tanks.after i get some baffling welded in my tanks i'll weld the 87 sender rings in.also ordered some 87 tbi senders and ep381's.

who says you can't cut on tanks full of gas? just kidding its dirty looking water after soap and lots of flushing.

i bought a bunch of sand to have the tanks and my bumpers sandblasted.not sure when i'll get around to it but i will have the tanks hot tanked and coated on the inside before i put the senders in.

I only buy stuff with "prime shipping" on amazon, I learned that a lot or things ship straight from china without it and could take weeks to months.

thanks for the heads up.

I bought a nice used 4x4 fan shroud from DLTruck1973 that should work with my fan. I'll mock it up soon and post results.

Re: 70 k20 build that somehow turned into a frame off resto-swap

got some time to mess with the tanks today. i had to cut the tubes out of the tanks since the mounting rods were rusted solid into them.i'll have to get some galv. pipe to weld back in. on the bright side the tanks have almost no rust in them just lots of residue from bad gas that will boil right out at a radiator shop.probably have a friend sand blast the outsides of them saturday

Could you share some info on how you connected the -3 braided line from the clutch master to the factory fitting on the internal slave?

Re: 70 k20 build that somehow turned into a frame off resto-swap

I used Russel -3an adapters on both ends of the hose. Post 30 for the slave pic. Been a while since I worked on it,the jeep i got turned out to be more of a pile than i first thought.i think I've had a change of heart on the fuel system and will weld up the fuel doors in the bed and run a suburban or similar single tank instead with a skid plate and or drop hitch to protect it.

Re: 70 k20 build that somehow turned into a frame off resto-swap

I see the hose with the ends. Did you remove the factory connector on the internal slave and tap it for a NPT to -3 fitting? My slave has the factory style connector held in with a roll pin. I just wasn't sure how the roll pin hole would affect sealing of the pipe threads if I tapped that hole. Just searching to see what others have done to connect to the internal slave cylinders.

I've seen a few guys use the late 80's early '90's Blazer/Suburban tanks with the factory in tank pumps.

Sorry to assume you hadn't looked at the pic.yes you just drive out the pin, insert the adapter and rubber washer and put the pin back in.pretty slick.I think a two pack was between 10-15$.a quick Google of Russell -3an hydraulic line adapter or similar term should get you there.good luck with the project!

I looked on Summit and found them. I wasn't aware such a fitting existed. Needless to say my search skills suck. Thank you very much for the help. Those fittings simplify the connection greatly.

Re: 70 k20 build that somehow turned into a frame off resto-swap

bringing the chev back from the dead now that my jeep is finished and given to my father for hunting season. definitely going to run a blazer tank now instead of saddle tanks. i sawzalled the rear off a square body blazer frame and took it home to cut the tank crossmembers out

also picked up some 3/4 ton 56" rear springs and sand blasted them, the spring hangers,an old barden bumper, and the aforementioned tank crossmembers.then painted it all.

the frames clear of the old stuff and ready to get spring shackle hangers 4" back and modified tank crossmembers.i have a blazer skid plate, straps, etc.still need to get a tbi tank and modify the ends of the crossmembers to get everything to play nice together.also cut a blazer fuel door of a tub to weld into the bedside.

nice to make some progress after a year of down time

Re: 70 k20 build that somehow turned into a frame off resto-swap

Its been a long time since I've worked on the old girl. A series of other projects took precedence.I'd like to finally drive the old girl now though so I'll post some progress I've made recently.
I used squarebody crossmembers to hold the 31 gallon tank and skidplate. Front one went right in with a little tweaking and the rear one got sectioned for the shorter frame height frame in the 70.set the distance back so the fill neck goes between bed braces and has a straight shot to the blazer fuel door thats now in the passenger bedside.clears the diff and the taper on the tank is at the rear like it should be

Re: 70 k20 build that somehow turned into a frame off resto-swap

Pics of the old barden bumper and k5 2" hitch(that doesn't fit the truck, just for mockup)loosely in place. Shackle mount moved back 4" for the 3/4 ton 56" springs. My goal is to make an offroad bumper that bolts to a 2" hitch frame like my 2500hd does for strength or to incorporate a drop hitch and its frame into the bumper. The tank doesn't hang down very far compared to the drop hitch. Probably could have used the deeper (40gal?) Tank without it being a boat anchor

Re: 70 k20 build that somehow turned into a frame off resto-swap

Scored an almost new set of front tuff country 2" ez ride springs a couple days ago for 100$! Guy i got them from had just bought a blazer and removed them to go 4". Stickers on the springs say packed in 2020. My old springs had about 2" negative arch. Full droop with the tires off the ground has the pack slightly past flat, look at that poor second spring at droop

can any of you with the front ez ride 2" give me a measurement from the bumpstop to the spring plate fully loaded to give me a heads up on final height?

Re: 70 k20 build that somehow turned into a frame off resto-swap

Changed up my harness a little bit and got the computer flashed for the swap.6.0l lq4 motor is still stock but some 799 heads and a stage 1 or 2 truck cam could happen after the dust settles and i drive her a while.2.5" mandrel bent exhaust kit is on the way from jegs(4 straight,4 180*,4 90*,4 45*).I'm going to use the extremely loud flowmasters my uncle had on the truck and loved. Hopefully I'll be able to start her up soon!
