I have every intention of posting numbers both of the engine and at the rear wheels. The engineers at work have to find time to squeeze it in between r&d engines to run personal projects. Once it’s run and the truck is back together I’ll squeeze it in on the chassis dyno schedule between R&D and Beta cars. It’s a great perk of my day job but I have to be at their mercy for convenience. FYI I’m basing my prediction on previous builds and our programs at work and until done is a hypothetical.

Re: The Wrong Bed C10 build

Tied up a bunch of lose ends yesterday before turning the truck around today and starting on the rear. Most notably was the body mounts as they were original! Also got the 1/2 fuel system 100% done and added some hush mat between the tank and the cab.

Re: The Wrong Bed C10 build

Not a major night tonight took it off to get the latest round of salt off my dually before this weeks cold snap. I did get to put my old 1964 Ajax high lift to use as a way of stabilizing the truck on the stands.

Love the look of your truck. I am curious, what size tire do you have on the rear. It looks very beefy.

Re: The Wrong Bed C10 build

After a night of slogging through rusted hardware finally got almost the old parts off and broken down. I still have one more trailing arm mount to remove. (as you all know the rivets suck) Still have to figure out if I'm going to just flip the brackets or get the adjustable ones.

Re: The Wrong Bed C10 build

So no post for a short bit because I went like a mad man and banged out the rear half of the truck last weekend. Stripped and painted the frame and rear rails and redid the arms and rearend. Flipped the front mounts new hardware and polyurethane and air shocks it should ride pretty good. I welded on the new panhard mt and still waiting on my finned diff cover and shorter bar. But I settled at a 4" drop in the back and with it, it'll maintain its hot rod 60/70s rake and stance. Still got some lose ends to tie up like fabbing a new hitch but its coming together.

Re: The Wrong Bed C10 build

Rear chassis is 100% done took the opportunity with the good weather to roll the truck outside and view the new stance. Hopefully I can get a shot at the company dyno in the next couple of weeks so the motor can go in. In the meantime I’ll tie up some stuff starting with Fabing up a new hitch

What did you used to put the magnesium finish on the rear diff cover? It looks great.

Re: The Wrong Bed C10 build

Squeezed the engine onto the work dyno after hours. Little 355 made 469 hp @6700 and 413 ft lbs @ 5200 . Got it home and wasted no time dropping it in the truck. Waiting on the clutch to show up this weekend and hopefully getting it all buttoned up in the next few days. made a lunch time run to LMC for peddles and some other lose end(great to work around the corner. Pics are from before and after dyno (didn't want to be that guy in front of the other guys from work) but supper happy with the progression.

Re: The Wrong Bed C10 build

Got the hood back on and picked up the remaining mandrel tubes at work to fab the exhaust. It was nice to be able to get the truck outside in to the world and step back I adjusted the rear down 2" after the photos. The dogs are excited for spring!

Building a small, high rpm engine with the perfect bore, stroke and rod ratio is very impressive.
It's like a highly skilled Morrocan sword fighter with a Damascus Steel Scimitar.....

Cubic inches is like Indiana Jones with a cheap pistol.
