Shift indicator pointer...can't find 68

I busted the pointer off of my column yestrday. I was engaged in an extreme act of absolutely nothing, just one of those things that happens. Anyway the tail broke off as well as one of the nubs that snaps into the column. Qhy can't I find this for a 1968 model? I see 69-70, 71-72 but no 68. What gives? Anybody have a source for me? Thanks.

I believe the auto transmission pointers are the same from 1967-1970. The LMC catalog also indicates that... if you have confidence in LMC.

I just saw LMC's section on this. How can they be the ONLY ones to have different model years? Corn-fused.

Try The Truck Shop in Orange, CA, www.Truckand CarShop.com 1-800-243-8947 or 1-714-771-0407. They have these years covering 69-70 & 71-72. I don't know if there is a 67-68 one or not.

Thanks. There IS a 67-68 one - I should know considering I just slapped mine off yesterday, lol. Don't know why no one carries it. I'm guessing it wasn't apart shared with other models so there is not much demand in general, or that the later model ones work fine despite being a different size.

GMC Paul says that no one makes it. LMC has it, but who knows what it looks like.... I wish LMC was more descriptive, it's often like ordering from JC Whitney in 1989. Send your money and hope the part that arrives is decent quality. To pay for shipping and then pay to ship back would really stink.

LMC's latest catalog sent to me shows on page 134 #11 is for non tilt 71-72 & #10 shows 67-70. BUT when looking at other Catalogs (Brothers, Classic Ind. ,The Truck Shop) all have years as from 69-70 & 71-72, these catalogs shows 69-70 being the same as LMC's 67-70 listing. I don't have a catalog from GMC Pauls so can't compare anything there. A little bit confusing on Who has what so my advice would be if you can contact other catalog places I'd ask if they would send you a pic of the part to you in a Email for you to view it to see if it is right for you.
Or you can wait till someone chimes in on what you are asking for in the color you want.

Give us all a picture of the one you "slapped" off, may be you have a newer style on and don't know what you really have in the right year model on your column.

Re: Shift indicator pointer...can't find 68

Good point. I can see that the little black and white drawing LOOKS like the shape of my indicator. I believe that they used a traditional bulb in place of a fiber optic cable on the later years, that is the only difference I can identify. I'll grab a pic.

Re: Shift indicator pointer...can't find 68

An update in case anyone is interested. I purchased the unit below despite it not being listed for a 68. The picture looked right so I took a gamble. It fit perfectly. My fiber optic plastic thingy (for lack of a better term) slipped right in, the tabs fit in the factory opening and the screw lined up great.

I'm not sure why the don't list this for 67 and 68's but it works if you need one. I cant imagine what the difference is or if there even is one. Looks like LMC is the only one who has their fitment years correct, I just didn't trust buying something based off of a fuzzy black and white drawing.
