How did you make out on eBay. Curious to see what the market is like. Very cool ride

Re: Lets see your truck!

It didn't sell but I screwed up, I put a high buy it now price but my reserve wasn't very high. I think most people were thinking I wanted a lot more than I did. I'm gonna relist it next week and one of my friends works for eBay and is a professional photographer. He says he will guarantee I sell it. I still think the market isn't great though, two years ago my friend sold a ford like mine that was pretty thrown together with a just a 350 and he got 18k. The guy that bought it was really wealthy though so I take that with a grain of salt. I couldn't see why mine shouldn't bring at least 14-15 buy we'll see. I'm not in too much of a hurry and I won't give it away, it has a lot of cool, hard to find parts. I have my fingers crossed.

Re: Lets see your truck!

I've sold a BUNCH of vehicles on eBay and I can tell you; forget the buy-it-now. I've only ever sold one car that way. You're right, the BIN just makes bidders guess on how much your reserve is.
Start your bidding low, and make your reserve the very lowest you'd be happy selling it for. As soon as the reserve is met it motivates bidders much more.
I thought the rat rod market had softened, but I've seen some lately bringing big-bucks. This 29 Nash in Idaho just ended last night with high bid of $26,000
You're selling at the right time of the year too. Springtime, weather's getting nice almost everywhere and the cars shows are starting up.
Good luck.

Re: Lets see your truck!

I don't buy that at all, there are so many people out there having their friends pump up their bid. I can't believe anyone in their right mind would pay 26k for that. Don't get me wrong it's neat but you can have a shop build that for much less than 26k. Thats why I hate eBay, it's almost impossible to tell what's really happening on there. I'm not out there to try and screw anyone but I don't want to give my truck away either. Most people see my truck and think its a "rat rod" but I never intended it to be that way. I just never had time to tear it apart again and paint it, I have over 5k just in my motor. It is what it is though, sometimes you get someone with a lot of money that just has to have it.

Re: Lets see your truck!

My Grandfathers '40 Chevy. My father sold it to him in '79 to help pay for us to move out to Arizona. It took my Grandfather 28 years to restore it. I wish I had before pics but we have none in the old photo album.

Re: Lets see your truck!

My 36 chevy, the night i got home with it i found out that baby #4 was on the way. So now it's all wrapped up for a few years. But the good news is that led me to get my 68 4x4 to enjoy for now.

You've got some good steel there. It'll make a great project for you and the kids.

You did a pretty good pull off of an fenderless needlenose-not usually done, good job on getting the wheels all the way forward-most dont get that right! Now for the chop, and perhaps some hood sides tht cover more--like the 34-6 do.

Re: Lets see your truck!

Ended up taking 6" out or the roof and 1" out of the rear window. Went back to hood sides. I'm liking it better now. Still waiting for wheels

Don't mean to hi-jack but what size tires and are those stock fenders or widened?
