Glove box door hinge location

I just did the diverter door fix and my screw holes are too big now in the plastic hinge. The hinge strip does go behind the dash sheet metal does it not? Mine has scars from being mounted outside of the dash and my two parts trucks are missing/broken. Previous owner has had this apart trying to figure out the no defrost situation.
Thanks.

Not. Screw -> Hinge -> dash sheet metal

Pretty sure they go on the outside of the dash.
I looked on YouTube, here’s a video. YouTube is your best friend. It has helped me far more than anyone trying to explain it.

Re: Glove box door hinge location

I checked Google Image and watched the videos and found two instances of the hinge on the outside. These trucks are 40 years old and previous owners can do many strange things. That is why I asked. Mine was on the inside.

Re: Glove box door hinge location

It was in the outside on mine. My guess the ones that were on the inside, someone did them wrong. When I took mine off the replace the liner, several videos showed the screws on the outside. And that is how mine was also.

Re: Glove box door hinge location

Yes. The latch works better and most importantly, the heater works as designed and I have new wiper arm hoses installed.
Ready for winter.
This was on my 89 K5
Thanks All!
