c10 vs c30 gas tank differences

How big of a difference be? I am wanting to run a aluminum of stainless underbed tank for my current c30 build.

Boyd only lists a c10 tank, and there is a note they are not taking on custom builds, only whats listed.

I got a quote from ricks tanks, c30 specific supposedly, 26 gal with fuel and sender, stainless, $2400. More than I was expecting, but it looks like they do nice work.

Can I get away with buying a tank listed for a c10? Will it be close enough to bolt up or will I be throwing away money trying to make this work?

Any other manufacturers I should check out? I did the blazer/burb tank route on my last c30. Wasnt a big fan of doing it that way.

Ricks tank does excellent work. I had them build me a custom tank for my 69 flat bed. sits between the frame rails behind the cab. Holds about 45 gal

I assume you're referring to a tank in the blazer/burb position; between the frame rails, behind the rear axle.

If so, the one-ton trucks mounted the rear shock absorbers inboard of the frame. Any in-frame tank will need some additional fabrication to clear those shocks.

The 1/2-ton trucks, 3/4-ton trucks, blazers, and suburbans all mounted the rear shock absorbers outboard of the frame, so there was no possible conflict between a in-frame fuel tank and the shocks.

Metal prices have gone thru the roof the last couple of yrs
No surprise really on those costs.. I'm sure stainless prices are crazy
We bought a 4x8 sheet of 16ga galvanized the other day at work. Just over $800..

The tank he made me about 5-6 years ago with shipping was near the 900.00 mark, but it included the compatible fuel sending unit and the mounting straps I spec'd out. Perfect fit.

I'm currently thinking about an auxillary tank in my toyota. It will sit under the cross bed box. About 32 gal if my math is correct at 231 cu.in. per gal. That tank will probably be more money considering current price of steel and shipping charges
