quick question, i have everything unbolted and unplugged, ready to pull out....except the driveshaft. im having a huge mental lapse with pulling this driveshaft. is this the kind of ujoint that needs to be pressed out? i removed the clips but the damn u joint doesnt move at all.

I can't remember what you have there. Does that shaft just pull out of the tail housing or does it have a nut on it? Do you have the other end of the shaft loose? You are probably not going to get that u-joint apart while it is still under the truck.

ill check in the AM but i believe it slips out, i dont remember seeing a nut. and nope, other end is still intact

Then you will have to unbolt the other end and unbolt the carrier bearing bracket if it has one and pull the shaft out of the tail housing.

ill have a look in the morning. i dont think ive ever pulled this driveshaft but i couldve sworn i had the trans out before

guess that was the easiest way! i dont know why i was trying to avoid removing the driveshaft, it will need to come out anyways.
