Re: Got the message!!! Grandfathers 1971 GMC

I’m probably going to catch some jokes, but. When we pulled in. I’m not going to lie, I shed some tears about it.

It meant so much to me. Just to see for the first time in 12 years and then drive it nearly 2 hours home

I would say that there will be no Jokes.

This is history in the making.

Nothing wrong with a tear, everyone of us on here has been there in some way or the other. It’s pretty cool to see this one come full circle.

Re: Got the message!!! Grandfathers 1971 GMC

I'm only 11 years into the 67-72 GM Truck family, but I think we all understand what your story means to you. My daughter asking to drive off in my GMC for her wedding sealed the deal for me.

Congratulations! Your kids, and generations on, will keep the flame going, because they'll recall the memories you created in these memorable machines.

No joking around here for that. Many, if not most, appreciate where you are and what you went through to get to this point.

Looks like you are doing exactly what I'd do for a bit. Put gas in it and enjoy it while you make a plan.

I have a similar story about my son. I was trying to have the "I'm gonna die some day son, and these are my plans concerning what I'm gonna leave you" He stated, "Dad, you don't have to give me anything, you have already provided it" But he added, "I guess I could take Ginger and drive my boys around in it like you did me" (my '63 C-10). Since he put it that way, I embarked on a frame off restoration. He will be driving his inheritance. I don't really think we are the owners of these 'ol trucks, more like caretakers. This is more than a hobby, it is a lifestyle to most of us. Enjoy your daughters wedding!
