Re: PROJECT "Z069" - LS7 powered '69 Stingray....

I dropped the rear portion of the exhaust...fully welded it, and reinstalled it. Once the car in painted and the bumper is on, if need be I will cut the chrome tips shorter:
-
-

-

-
The entire exhaust system is a clamped slip fit design. This way, I can have the entire exhaust jet-coated !! To hang the mufflers, I cut half circle of pipe, then clamped it to the muffler then welded the hanger to the cut pipe. Worked out good.
-

-

-

-
Just for fun, I added an additional hanger to an existing threaded hole on the diff x-member:
-

-

-

-
Enough of the exhaust for a minute....here's a shot of the regulator mounting location...made a simple extention bracket and mounted it to the coil pack mount.

I set the body back on the cart, and bolted it down. It's now going to the body shop to have the engine compartment, cowl area, and the front nose area painted.

I ran the mufflers at a more level, less visible position (compared to a stock hang):

Re: PROJECT "Z069" - LS7 powered '69 Stingray....

PICS FROM JAN 10ish THIS YEAR !!

Just in case you all were missing me, here I am.

I have been busy trying to keep a float....but today I got some things done.

When we last left off, the engine compartment had been painted....so today I reinstalled the body...

Started off by welding up a new cross tube for my lift (cut up the last one for material)
-

-

-

-

-
Wiped the dust off the engine bay and the chassis:
-

-

-
Chased all the threads to make sure they were clean:
-

-

-
Blasted the body mounts and fasteners:
-

-

-
-

Re: PROJECT "Z069" - LS7 powered '69 Stingray....

-

Few last things to the rear of the engine..ground the harness, install bung for oil-pressure and 90 for vacuum feed:
-

-

-
After dropping the body on the frame......
-

-
Dumb-a$$ forgot these:
-

-
So I just lift the very front, and snuck them in:
-

-
-
Once the body was bolted tight...I moved to stripping the interior to prep the surface for some paint, sound deadener and the new wiring harness:
-

-
Tape deck anyone ?

I am thinking the same thing, it is that or for FM radio stations. I know our trucks have the same looking part mounted to the side of the am/fm radio.

BTW I just found this thread, WHAT A BAD A$$ VETTE!!!

Re: PROJECT "Z069" - LS7 powered '69 Stingray....

(more from Jan 17ish)I found the clutch pedal pin slightly worn...so before coating, I cut it loose and welded a new one in...
-
-

-

-

-
-
Yesterday, I pushed her outside in the nice California weather we are having right now....to do a final wire-wheel cleaning of the inside, before some paint and the DynaMat goes in...
-

-

-

-
Here I'm using my old "I don't care if it burns out" wire wheel drill...
-

-

-

-

-
That's it for now.....Monday or Tuesday should be starting the DynaMat....

Jan 29 ish

Moved on to the interior with the "FAT-MAT" install. Comporable to Dyna, but a helluva lot cheaper !!!!

The mat comes in two large rolls with a blade and roller....I found out later the roller cannot stand up to the abuse of an picky installer....
-
-

-

-
I took some exhaust tubing and some angle and made myself a quick dispenser....This made it so much easier....
-

-
-
Let the fun begin. As I went along, I found my self wire-wheel'n a little more, spots that I had missed....just to make sure it stays down. This stuff is really sticky though.
-

-
Touched up the exposed bracing with some primer...
-

-
Templates for days....

Even thought it's not necessary , I use a heat gun to slightly soften and push the matting into all the nooks and cranny's and imporfections in the fiberglass...

Floor almost done....

Moved on to rear panel...This one took some time. I used a socket to smooth out the edges..worked out good.

I use large pieces mostly, but when possible, I use up all the cutoffs and use them up to minimize waste.
-

More pics soon. Need to finish tunnel, foot area and under dash. Then I will be doing the storage/battery areas and rear portion....that'll be fun !!!

Since these pics were taken, I finished the under the dash area. I am currently working on the area dirrectly under the windshield, then will move on to the back....the most important area I think for sound control.
