Long bed to Blazer

This popped up in my you tube suggestions. Not sure if anyone has seen this before? They take a 1968 long bed and make a 1968 Jimmy from it. Should be an interesting title?

Even fairly rusty blazers are going for a good amount of money these days. A long bed on the other hand can be had for a bit more reasonable amount. There’s plenty of threads discussing floor and rocker and bedside repair on Blazer’s. All things being equal it was probably cheaper to do the long bed than an original blazer.

With that being said I don’t think it will ever be worth what an original Blazer is worth?

Re: Long bed to Blazer

I noticed they said a short bed truck wouldnt need a scar cut in the back..
Very interesting idea, and looks like itll be really nice when done..
When I commented on cost I was looking at the whole project, rolling chassis, engine and bodywork..
They got alot going on there..

Re: Long bed to Blazer

Oh sure. Nothing new. I've heard of that. Here's one from many years ago

I got that suggestion, too, but hadn't watched yet. What I have seen that would be more my speed is take a long bed and make a Blazer-like topless tub. No doors, just cut the top off, slide the bedsides forward to the cowl, relocate the rear wheel opening, and hop in over the side. I guess you could climb up front after entering at the tailgate if the rear area was left open. Just a good time buggy (unless it rains). Could be done for nearly nothing if you had the truck. To me it screams FUN!!

I've seen that shorty one Tim with finished up paint. It does look like fun. This may be it.

I do too. Thanks for the picture. I guess there are some spare tops around with no body to go with. I had a '71 I put a soft top on in the '80s. I had the top stored in the barn I rented for my business. The place got sold, had to move out by a deadline. Came back for my top and the barn had already been demoed ahead of the deadline I had a permanent soft top Blazer.

Now all we have to do is edit this thread to say Jimmy. I like to use K/5 and GM truck as general terms, rather than leave GMC out of the picture.
