63 fuel gauge went wonky
I've done some searching already, but haven't been able to find an answer. Could y'all please point me in the right direction?
I filled up the tank today in prep for a drive to Savannah on Thursday. With the tank full, my gauge is reading at the half way point. Seems to read correctly when the tank is close to empty. It did go up to almost 3/4 for a couple seconds, but then went back to half and stayed there for the rest of the short trip back to the house. I first noticed this to be an issue after the truck sat for about 6 weeks. Not sure if that had anything to do with it. I know I need to check some stuff with a multimeter, but of course, mine is sitting in the toolbox at my parent's home. Mainly wondering if there's anything I can check for visually before leaving for the trip to Savannah on Thursday. I'll be home for Thanksgiving, so I can check with the multimeter then

Re: 63 fuel gauge went wonky
I suggest pull the sender out and see if the float has gas in it (it should have nothing but air in it). Perhaps there is a small hole in it and it doesn't float as well as it should.

Re: 63 fuel gauge went wonky
That would be quite unfortunate, but it is an original, GM sending unit, so I wouldn't be surprised if a small leak developed. Hopefully I'll have a chance on Sunday to pull it out
