It was a cool day and I don't have a bottle warmer yet so I guess it was the best I could do. In the rear all I have is the stock suspension and slicks. I was surprised how well it hooked. But I only have 3.42 gears so that is probably part of the reason. When I bought those gears I was still wanting to drive the truck and get good mileage. I am getting 17-18 mpg so not too bad. That is all going to change soon. I am back halfing the truck and increasing the cubic inches either by stroking my smallblock or starting fresh with a bigblock.
man nice set up. i will be crazy happy if mine even runs 14s with my new 400sbc set up

need to redeem myself from the 17.0 stock 305 time

Re: 85 Shortbox Low and not so slow

Was planning on doing the same paint scheme except white with blue stripes. Can you tell me how wide yours are and how far apart they are?
Thanks

I bought it used so I'm not sure who made it. I don't know what the best way to mount these scoops is. I used fiberglass strips and resin to bond it to the stock hood and then filler to blend in the transition. It lasted about 4 or 5 years but is now starting to crack a bit at the 2 front corners.

Correct I first wanted to make sure i would have no traction issues and then increase the power rather than the other way around

Re: 85 Shortbox Low and not so slow

MikeJones Yes another prairieboy lol. I'm sure I've seen your car go down the track. I race the street legals too

Smokedat I haven't dynoed it but to go 12.7 in a 3600-3700 lb truck you need around 300 hp at the rear wheels. I have a narrowed 10 bolt rear with a spool, c-clip eliminators and 4.88 gears

Re: 85 Shortbox Low and not so slow

I had to use my trailer so I backed the truck out, Took a few pics. Its actually the first time I have seen it in the daylight since I started working on the rear suspension. I still have to get some tires for the matching front rims and finish up a few things in the rear (including lowering the rear now that I see the stance)

Re: 85 Shortbox Low and not so slow

Looks good. PS if you need your bottle warmed up let me know. I'll warm it up for ya. I Like doing the N/A passes more then the bottle anyways.

I'm hoping for mid 12's this season on the 125 shot. Finally have some decent tires and suspension.

You'll see me pulling it in my truck from now on. well. Once I build a trailer after..

Re: 85 Shortbox Low and not so slow

Yeah that would really help Mike. I would really like to run a 12.99 on motor this year. And I'm curious to see what it would do with a warm bottle. Its pretty sad when my brother has a better 60' than me. His 97 Camaro with street tires and my truck with slicks and nitrous

Re: 85 Shortbox Low and not so slow

Haven't had any updates for a while. I had it out at the track last night. First time in probably 2 years. I was hoping to at least be as fast as I was before with a 12.74 at 104 mph. I ended up running an 11.81 at 114 mph. All that was different this time is the gears and tires. Same powertrain with no changes to timing or jetting. I was pretty excited. The track was poor so I know I can improve my 60 ft. It was 1.77 sec. I'll upload the video asap

Did all the bed bolts line up when you were putting the newer box on?

Re: 85 Shortbox Low and not so slow

No I don't think any of them lined up. Also, the frame is shaped differently so you have to use spacers in the front and make brackets for the rear.
