Always take your pics with your phone horizontal not vertical. Vertical pics turn 90 deg. when added to here.

While driving down to pick up an underdash harness for my blazer from Randy500, my transmission decided it was time for a rebuild.

Did something I’ve never done before- waxed the inside of the bed. Also, installed my spare bracket and sandblasted and painted the spare wheel

Re: What did you do to your truck today. The 3rd chapter

Got an inner door patch panel for my pass. door and found out the fit is awful so I'm just piecing the bottom of the door back together eliminating the rust with parts of the patch. Progress is slow but steady, it doesn't have to be that pretty since the ole girl's a daily driver.

Found enough dirt in the firewall to bury somebody lol. I continued on the body repairs to hopefully have this thing painted soon

Re: What did you do to your truck today. The 3rd chapter

I set the cab back on the chassis. Mainly because I was tired of leaving the cab out in the weather, fearing rust or hail. While it’s in the garage I hope to get the firewall smoothed out, and do some more mocking up of various components.

Continuing on the pass. door repair I finished up the door bottom and got the ugly speaker hole filled as well. I'll tackle the door skin corners tomorrow and it'll be on to some quick body work and rattle can touch up

Re: What did you do to your truck today. The 3rd chapter

Update on my new dual snorkel air cleaner. Drove it last night for the first time since putting it on and exactly what I was looking for. Only time you really hear any intake noise is when you are on it with the secondaries open. Otherwise pretty much as quiet as the stock one. And I know the engine is getting as much air as needed now.

Got busy and slung some filler on the speaker hole repair, put seam sealer on the door bottom repair, and rattle canned some DupliColor on everything. Paint doesn't match very well but hey she's a driver

Re: What did you do to your truck today. The 3rd chapter

Over the last few days installed the intake, finished the brake lines. Installed mounts to block, and the engine perches loosely. Installed bumper stops, finished painting heads, installed transmission mount, positioned the frame and lots of prep for tomorrow. We're dropping this and the transmission tomorrow, and not literally.

Bugs me the hoist won't center over the block while it's on the engine stand, legs are in the way. There might be enough room to help support the block using the transmission jack. Either way we'll make it work, so is the plan.

Re: What did you do to your truck today. The 3rd chapter

Milestone today, we got the engine/trans. installed. It was as a full day. The mounts were a challenge, but one engine perch is nuts where it was, and the other off a 16th. I'll call it better than our earlier work (1993 rebuild). Went smooth with one caveat. We had the torque converter set, but when I got to the point to bolt it up I found the converter must have slipped forward, because it was already flush with the flex plate. It's my understanding that generally you have to pull it forward 1/8" plus to meet the plate. But the converter spun without much effort and bolts went smoothly, so I think we're good. EDIT: Really I don't feel great about that torque converter. Going to disconnect and double check.

These are my boys. The oldest worked with me all day. The truck is his birthright. He doesn't like Ochre. It will grow on him

BTW, if anyone can recommend a water pump and starter for an original 402/400TH build it's appreciated. I'd like a cast iron pump. If it means no other mods and suits an original block to transmission, including the inspection cover then I'd like to upgrade the starter. I think some are smaller and lighter sounds right
