Re: Took the top off for the first time.

I'd also like to know how many people you need to take the topper off. Anyone ever made a lift inside their garage to take it off and store it up against the ceilling. Photo's of such things would be nice.

Thanks Scott

Re: Took the top off for the first time.

Nice Blazer!

I remove my top myself. I have four ropes hanging from the ceiling of my garage. I slide a 2x4 under the front and one under the back. There are blocks on the 2x4's the keep the top from moving in and out. Then I lift one side of one 2x4 and tie the rope to it. I go to the next one and do the same until I have all four ends up. Then I drive out.

Re: Took the top off for the first time.

It only took me and my brother to take mine off. I don't plan on putting mine back on either. I do plan on getting a hard top and bed cover though. You guys help me round up a half-top, there has got to be one out there somewhere.
Thanks, Kade

Yep, 2 in the front and 3 or 4 in back. What drop you got on yours?

Re: Took the top off for the first time.

I have 3" spindles with one wrap cut off the spring, and what was supposed to be 6" springs in the rear, but I think they are more like 5".
But I will have the air ride on pretty soon anyway.

Re: Took the top off for the first time.

dont take this the wrong way, its jsut my opinion. If you are going to put a half top and a hard tonneau cover on there, just sell it and buy a truck.

Who wants a truck? This is a go machine that will be driven on long trips, I want a half cab for ease of removal and storage. When I get to a destionation I want to remove it without having 3 people to help me. Also it will suck to be caught out in the rain with no top. I can take a half-top and cover in the motel room and not have to worry about it being stolen if I had to. Beside it will look like a unibody pick up truck. Everyone has a blazer with the factory top on it and only a few have half cabs, I like to be in the few bunch and be a little different. You have your taste and I have mine, I will probally never find a half cab anyways. I will probally invest in a waterproof car cover.

I've had several blazers and drive them everywhere. I have been caught in the rain(its not that bad). It does not take 4 people to take the top off, my wife and I can do it without a problem(don't be a sissy). Yes it will look like a truck and that was my point.
If you really want to look cool, just leave the top at home and cruise.

Well that is very nice for you. How big a woman is your wife? She must be a amazon because my top is pretty heavy on two people. It is my ride I will do with it what I want. How much did you have in your interior in these blazers you had? What about radio equipment, how much you have in that? I don't want all mine getting wet. When I do want to run it as a toppless unit I will and that will be my choice and if I wanted to run the cover and half cab that will be my choice. I didn't ask for your opinion anyways, I don't go round telling other folks what to do with there rides so I don't need you tellling me.
Thanks, (the sissy)

hey man I'm not telling you what to do at all. I was just giving you a little crap because it seems like everytime someone doesnt agree with what you have to say you get all huffy. And you did.
As far as your comment about my wife, shes 5'3" and weighs 105lbs., and I woud refrain from making comments about peoples wives if I were you. Thats not telling you what to do, thats a warning.

I have driven an "other model" convertible in the rain. At speed the vast majority of the rain passes over the vehicle. Of course you can't just keep driving until the rain stops
