But that's not what I came back for. I forgot to posy what I did. I saw a Honda Fit towing a trailer!! Yeah I know, amazing. I figure those cars are designed with minimal capacity for everything. Hauls 4 people max and hopefully not heavyweights. The hitch itself probably takes it over it's limits. The trailer was one of those small tire 4 x 8s. Nothing on it. But the axle was set way back like a boat trailer, which for this thing means more tongue weight. Just an odd sight to see
I know that at least once my father towed his 16ft sail boat with his Opel 1900 sport coupe! I'm sure the boat and trailer weighed at least as much as the car. Why he did it I'm not really sure as he normally towed it with a full size car.

I towed a '70 Mach 1, floated a valve, with a '73 Hornet Hatchback...with a tow bar...when I move from Arizona back to Texas. circa 1974. It wasn't a pretty sight. Especially when making turns at intersections. The Mach 1 wanted to go straight.

HAH! So true. My wife smirks sometimes when I buy a tool. I just look around at the 5 sewing machines in the family room...I don't even have to say anything, she knows.

Oh, yes, I did!

So I did this yesterday. The mirror in my econobox wouldn't stay up- the plastic piece that is the socket for the ball and clamps to the bracket on the windshield cracked. I went by the dealer hoping to buy just the socket, but no go- you have to buy the complete mirror assembly. And it isn't covered by the extended warranty. I went home, drilled it out and pulled it back together with baling wire, just like I told the service adviser I was going to do. If you look carefully, you can see that the crack isn't completely closed.

Re: What did you do today not on your truck...

I waited until evening to even venture out of the house. It was hot as blazes today. I had the guys plastering my pool knock off early. It was just way too hot.

But the great thing about the desert is when the sun goes down and the breeze blows. My wife and I sit on the porch and have a couple cold ones.

And I rode around the property in my new Lamborghini.

Okay, it's not a real Lamborghini. It's a cheap Chinese scooter that I put Lamborghini badges on. I miss riding a motorcycle. This is about as close as I can get these days. It had no manufacturer markings on it at all. Not even in the limited paperwork that came with it. So I decided to call it what I want. So it's now my new Lambo. Why not?

It's just a joke but my daughter fell for it and started telling me that I had lost my mind. I told her that I paid 30K for it. I thought that she was going to start hyperventilating or something so I let her off the hook. Silly girl. She should know the old man better.

It's a nice scooter so far. I can get around now easily which is huge for me.

Here it is... My new Lamborghini. AKA Freedom.

My wife I once had never asked such a question. But if she did, my answer would simply be another question. "If you don't like tools then why did you marry me"?

Our running back 'n' forth things was me saying, "I need a shop". Then she's say, "I need a kitchen". Of course the next thing from me would be, "You have a kitchen. I didn't say I need a better shop. Try fixing dinner out in the gravel driveway 30' from all the food and utensils!". I've had no problem making meals in that same kitchen the last 17 years. I think I eat better now. Certainly digest it better

I bought a 2016 CR-V a couple years ago to replace my HHR. Damned Honda can't pull much of anything with the CV transmission. The towing capacity is 1,500#. I towed a trailer with brush to the recycling center with the HHR with no problem, but I'm afraid I'll burn out the "belt" in the CR-V. No way I'm going to try towing an enclosed motorcycle trailer with it. Not a good purchase for what I use a car for.

It has one airbag... Sitting in the drivers seat.

And I do have an old Easy Rider helmet that I might wear in winter just for S&G's It's too hot now.

It has a whopping 15 mph top speed which believe it or not seems kinda fast when you're on it in bumpy dirt. It gets a little squirrelly.

It's a cooler now. 6 pack to go. I can buzz around my yard and drink beer all day long.

Well maybe not all day. But I can do it until my wife gets home.

In a few short days I will put "70" in my hip pocket and I can attest...you never know.

Hell, now days when I wake up, sit on the edge of the bed, check that all body parts function and check to make sure I didn't pee the bed.

Re: What did you do today not on your truck...

today i was wanting to paint a couple metal bird ornaments my wife had in raw steel,it wouldn't be too long 500 or 600 feet from the ocean, they'd be orange with rust.i dug out a fairly new can of DOM-16,a paint like POR-15 but made here in Canada and i use it alot, great stuff but i remember the man at the Napa store,my friend Donny who is gone now, telling me not to slop any down in the rim on the top of can, you'll put the top on and never get it back off.i was careful but evidently got some paint slopped in the rim.the top would not come off.i turned the top of the can about inside out and still no way it would come off.i cut the top open with a scraper, painted what she wanted painted, then transferred the paint to a new can and was very careful not to make any mess.lesson learned.

I went to Lowe's this afternoon and a nice older than me woman clerk asked if i was having a good day. I replied "yes, I'm having a great day, I woke up this morning". She paused and smiled. She caught on quickly.

Re: What did you do today not on your truck...

New rear tire on the wing. It’s a royal pain in the butt if you don’t have a lift with a drop out . You have to take most of the rear fender apart and the inner bracket for the bags off . This morning I had to move my car trailer cause I’m getting 20 ton of #3 stone delivered . Thats when I had an epiphany why not run it up on the trailer and jack up the ramp and back the bike onto the ramp . Center stand it and take out the ramp . Worked perfectly doing the front tomorrow.

When I use por15 I transfer what need into a small container and super clean the lid and lip. I’ve had the same problem you did before

I have used this in the past.

All you have to do is put Sarran wrap between the can and the lid.

It will save the contents that left over.

Those And RAV4s are great little SUVs for what they are made to do. We drove to Maine and back in one. I noticed coming back to Maryland we never stopped for gas and it was not uncomfortable driving all day long.

But first thing I noticed when these little things came out is how amazingly tiny the rear axle shafts are. Obviously good enough and that is how you build a vehicle to be light for best fuel economy. Just seeing those makes it obvious it's all about "just enough and nothing more", same as that Honda Fit

I'd really like to have a RAV4, to be honest, and I've always been an 8-lugger guy, 5 & 6-lug doesn't cut it for me in a truck, except a toy. But no need to be driving a 10 MPG truck everywhere I go. I have friends all over the country, but spending all the money just for a way to carry my butt to visit is just not in the cards.

Front tire done . Saved about $ 400 maybe more . I knew the bike had an anti dive front suspension but the engineering is impressive .

I have friends all over the country, but spending all the money just for a way to carry my butt to visit is just not in the cards.
We drove a Rav4 on our vacation to New Mexico in June and averaged 29.1 miles per gallon . Sure beats 11 MPG .

You got that right with today's fuel prices. We have a 2002 Z06 Corvette that has made several trips to Oregon and back, almost, not quite 30 mpg. It's been awhile but I believe it was average of 29.8 MPG.....Computers and Fuel Injection and Overdrives are amazing.
