I know how you feel. It keeps raining here it seems like every other day and is getting old. I won't complain though. As soon as I do we probabaly won't get any after that.

Re: My 70 barn find build. TONS of pics

hey guys, its been awhile since ive posted. long story short, i have the project truck blues. Im sick of looking at my truck dissassembled and not running (bad tranny) so ive changed my game plan just a little. I had originally planned on having a super slick body, solid white paint, and a perfect interior. But for now, i just wanna drive my truck! i have the bodywork close enought to look good, it wont be perfect thats for sure, and since this will be a temporary paint job until i finish the body, im painting the truck satin black!!! i have the paint, all thats left on the truck is to wet sand it, pull the toolbox out, tape off windows, and paint! then ill pull the tranny and have it rebuilt, should be fun. ill post pics of the progress whenever i make progress. lol

Re: My 70 barn find build. TONS of pics

well i got the truck painted today, satin black. overall it went pretty good, no major malfunctions, other than the tape and masking paper coming off the Passenger side window while spraying!

so, after cleaning up some overspray, the truck looks pretty good. the bodywork wasnt perfect, it has some small flaws, but it looks better than it did and itll be fine for my daily driver! ill try to get pics up soon.

Re: My 70 barn find build. TONS of pics

well i got my tranny put in, took right under 4 hours!ive been enjoying my truck for a few days now, and i love it. Its ready for this next school year starting monday, but i have noticed some things that need addressing... The motor isnt running right, I believe i need to rebuild the distributor, along with new plug wires. The heater wont shut off, need to install some type of ball valve on the lines to shut off flow. So far that is the only 2 things ive had trouble with, the tranny has been working fine, it feels so good to be driving the 70 once again!

Get some LED's for tail lights, LMC has them cheap and direct bolt in, will look good and they dont require any flasher upgrade.

nice project one thing I would do is change that plastic gas filter to a metal one. I just did this because I read that they're prone to leak, and our's was. Good luck on your build.

Re: My 70 barn find build. TONS of pics

hey yall, not much has gone on lately, i got my heater fixed and got the truck running right, my carb wasnt tuned very well. So last night i almost lost my truck, thats right, it was almost burnt to the ground. we were under the hood with the motor running whenever i decided to take a step back, i look up and my enterior was completely full of smoke! I opened the door and ripped the wiring out to my radio (under seat).... the culprit? I had taken the radio speakers out and had forgotten to do something with the wires, they touched the bare metal floor, ground out, and melted every bit of the speaker wire, so i had black gooey melted insulation burnt to my hand... not a good night.

Re: My 70 barn find build. TONS of pics

hey just thought id give a little update, the 70 is running great, ive put quite a few miles on it with no problems, I recently lowered the truck 3 inches and painted my steelies satin black to match the body, the truck gets alot of looks now! 2 things that need addressing though,
1. the drum brakes suck... need to do something about them..
2. I dont like my double pumper carb, it likes to flood out and piss me off. I really would love to have the driveability of TBI, maybe a swap is in order? decisions decisions....

Re: My 70 barn find build. TONS of pics

I'd try a different single pump carb before I leaped into a TBI swap.
