Finding The Right One
The most important thing is RUST ~ it never sleeps and these trucks are rust prone, even here in Los Angeles .
The running gear is all dirt cheap, a stuck engine can be freed up or replaced, God know the small block 350CID engine is every where . Find a good basic body & frame then you can buy the running gear still attached to some paper thin rust bucket and get all the fiddly factory hardware with it for $500 . Yes, I realize not everyone wants to build their own rig but that's how I approached it when I was young enough to build them .

Here's one that me and my dad wanted. a 72 K-20. Originally was a stick but converted into an Automatic. But sadly, like a punch in the gut, my landlord didn't have the title for it and the way he talked about this truck, it seemed whoever owned it last wasn't exactly a friendly character. |

Never could get a good image of this truck Chevy Dumptruck.
Last tagged in 1995 and it has been sitting out there I think for at least 20 years. Here's an image I took in 2012 when the tree was a bit smaller. |
