1963 K20 Parking Brake Help!

It's time to get my parking brake sorted out but I can't find a diagram for this year and model that's anywhere close to what I have.

How do I go about measuring the two lines from the linkage to the drums to make sure I'm ordering the correct part? Also, the line from the steering column to the linkage was also cut. Any idea how to measure this and find a replacement?

I can help you out with that but won't be home to measure mine for a week and a half.

I'd appreciate it. I found the layout in Truck Shop Manual, but it doesn't list any dimensions or part numbers.

Inlinetube.com seems to sell all the cables. They look correct to me. I have a 62 K-20.

Re: 1963 K20 Parking Brake Help!

A few years ago I wrote up a DIY about converting park brakes to the style used in 1966-1972 C10 trucks. It may or may not be used in the 4X4 trucks.
These ideas might be helpful.

Re: 1963 K20 Parking Brake Help!

First you have to determine if its a 1st series or 2cnd series because its a 63. They had different frames in 63 as the 4x4 frames were a change over mid production year for 63s. Also always mention Chevy VS GMC when asking ? as GMC is different . I was able to find a previous post of your 63 Chevy with 292 K20 which makes it a second series being a 292.

GM Part number for a 1963 2cnd series FRONT cable 4x4 3824111 is 85 11/16 long and just so happens to be listed on ebay https://www.ebay.com/itm/36434397653...Bk9SR96Y_NaoYg

GM Part number for 1963 2cnd series REAR cable 4x4 3824114 GM parts book does not give a length but its for ALL Chevrolet 1963-1966 K20 4x4

Re: 1963 K20 Parking Brake Help!

Thanks for all the info. Now that I have the cables in hand, and roughly laid out to verify length, I need to work on taking apart the axles. Does anyone know what axle nut I need for a HO52 and what seal I need when reinstalling it?

Re: 1963 K20 Parking Brake Help!

Now that I've got everything disassembled, I'm running into a problem with the part noted below. On the old one I took out, the flanges are together. The new part there's a big gap and I can't get them to close. Does this look right and I'm just doing something wrong, or should I contact the parts dealer?
