Is your Squarebody magazine cover material?

I need a cover ready '84-87 C10 as soon as possible for the cover of a Source Interlink truck magazine. Its the usual gang of suspects producing it. Jim Rizzo, Classic Trucks' editor is on board along with Ryan Manson the guy that replaced me at CCT. There's also Calin Head who was at Sport Truck and is now Super Chevy's tech editor.

Anyways enough about who's on staff. I'm sorry I can't reveal the title right now because we're still in very early stages.

I'm going to photograph it in Source Interlink's new tech center in Irvine, CA, only a half-block away from my office. For all concerned I'm hoping we can find a truck as local as possible, but anyone is welcome to respond. We're cheap, so it doesn't pay anything. I will give who ever gets chosen a complete tour of Truckin' Classic Trucks, Custom Classic Trucks, and Mini-Truckin' offices throw in with a free lunch at a local diner with good food, or we can stay and eat the bad food they sell on the premises.

So all you have to do is post a few photos of your truck on this thread, and we'll go from there.

In case this broke the rules Moderator please note my $25.00 check cleared a few weeks ago, but my name hasn't gone from pink to blue yet.

Thank you,

John

Re: Is your Squarebody magazine cover material?

There is a nice classic looking 87 here on the board that would look nice on the cover. CLASSIC87's white shorty lowered on 20 inch TT2's. Also there is a short stepside on the board that was just completed by member Hot trux. Here is a link to his member page . The Red stepside looks as nice underneath as on top . It is a perfect build worthy of magazine coverage. Both of these trucks fit you year expectations .
Frank

Hot trux's truck isnt exactly local but look at the level of detail .

Link to Hot Trux member page.

Re: Is your Squarebody magazine cover material?

May I ask why the specific year range of 84-87? I actually like the 73-80 look better and I own several but the 81-87 look has grown on me lately since I now own this red 87. May not be as nice as the other two but I like it .

All the trucks above are very nice....I can also think of AceX & 87Lowrider offhand to consider.

(I don't have pics of their trucks as I'm on the road for a few days with my laptop)

Re: Is your Squarebody magazine cover material?

Wow, thanks a lot you guys for the great response! The red stepside is absolutely cover material, as are most of the trucks you guys posted, great stuff. The buzz kill is we have to have the truck here in California to shoot it in SIM's tech center. It's the brass that specified the '84-87 spread. Actually the order was for an '84-86, but I can't think of any significant difference, so I bumped in '87.

As things progress I'll be able to let out more details about what we're doing.

Thanks again,

John

Frank, that truck was very well done before you bought it but it definitely landed at a good home. It's polished out so well it shines like it's wet! I hope your son is enjoying it.

Actually 83-84 grilles are like yours.
The 85-87 grille is different.

Kens truck is definitely the best looking truck on the board . That is my opinion. The only problem is that his doesnt meet the year requirements they are looking for . The pic Ken has of his truck sitting in front of the old gas station is one of my favorite pics of it .

darren,
They are both taking up garage space right next to each other . My wife isnt happy about parking outside but the trucks take priority. This red truck was board member Bigarmzz's truck . I bought it in July .He took it to the stage it is in now.It is wearing some original paint and is nice.

Are you adding new parts to the trucks? Is that why there is a photo shoot involved? Otherwise you could use any of the thousands of pictures of any truck on this site.
