Set the pass side tank up as your dedicated EFI supply tank. Have a driver side tank as extra capacity & utilize a cheap Carter low psi external electric pump as a fuel transfer pump only?

Un-complicates the whole switching valve/extra hose needs as far as the EFI goes & yet still allows double the fuel volume which can be transferred via a 12v toggle switch when desired.

Just thinking of easy alternatives outside of a Burb tank.

This is a fantastic idea. I have been considering that as my #1 option to run dual tanks. Bulkhead fitting into main tank and flip the "on" switch when the main tank starts getting low.

I like the transfer pump system best. For one its cheap... no need for a new efi tank, a new sending unit, a switching valve etc... and its simple. Only one set of wires going to the gauge, transfer tank is completely independent of main tank. Also allows me to set up one tank now, add in secondary down the road. I'm for it.

So... After reading tons of info and asking a million questions, I've decided my fuel system setup, for now...

Spectra GM1C tank (found one for $83 on the 'Zon)
Spectra FG05M Sender ($114 from Hot Rod Fuel Hose)
Spectra SP1115 190lph pump (Scored for $35.00 on Ebay)

It took a LOT of searching, but I was able to track down some decent prices on these items. The pump normally lists for $109 on Hot Rod Fuel Hose's website, and the Walbro 255, EP381 are sold out or over $100 everywhere I looked.

I'm going to get all these parts in and map out the rest of the fuel system... I think I'm going to avoid the Pollack switching valve altogether, and if I choose to add the aux tank in I'll use the transfer style external pump setup. That will allow me to run AN fittings right off my main tank to my existing return-style fuel rail.

In other news, I made some progress on the radiator mock up. I'm using an EBAY aluminum radiator with electric fans. I purchased the 81-87 big block radiator mount panel. I've got the rad in a good spot, i just need to build some mounting pads to place the rubber isolators on. I'm a little concerned that the rad cap might be close to contacting the hood...

I saw that linked reference but haven't read through the other thread yet regarding the fuel system.

As for your decision, you'll also be able to re-use the old fuel pickup/sending unit of the current tank to feed an aux external low psi electric transfer set-up. Saves a few bucks there if that decision is made.

Been making slow and steady progress:

Purchased a throttle cable, OEM unit off a 2002 2500 HD from rock auto.
PN GM 15040848. Needed to massage the tab that clips into the firewall. The hole in the firewall is square while the tab on the throttle cable has ears on two sides but is rounded on the the opposite sides. I used a dremel with a cut off wheel to square up the rounded edges, making them more square. After that it fits perfectly in the firewall hole. The pedal end of the cable is about 3 inches longer than it needs to be so I trimmed the cable stop off and added a universal cable stop from Dorman. (PN 03336) The pedal has the perfect amount of travel to open the throttle 100%. Very clean installation.

My intake manifold was missing the throttle cable bracket so I ordered one on Amazon.

Also got my trans cooler mounted.
TruCool PN LPD47391. Used -6AN fittings from Evil Energy to plumb it.
-6AN transmission fittings from ICT Billet PN: 551124. These fittings plumb right into the 4l80e and give you -6AN fittings to attach to. I mounted it to the core support and hit it with some black spray paint to hide it.

Lokar ACA-1800 Shift linkage mounted up. It was a little tricky getting everything to line up just right, had to make two separate bends in the shaft, but after wiggling things around a few hundred times I got it to work just right. Able to shift through all 7 positions (PRND321) The shift indicator is preeeety close to accurate. Quality parts from Lokar as usual.

Got started on the electrical side of thigs. I mounted the Auxillary battery tray This moves the battery over to the driver's side, which is where the ECM, alternator and factory fuse block sit. The only item that will need a long run is the starter wire. From LMC PN 38-6313 and 38-6314.

Also got the ECM mounted. Used Tejas steelworks Gen III ECM mount. High quality, comes with all hardware needed and great instructions. Got that painted up, mounted and managed to mount the fuse and relay box from LSX_Shack on the back.

Great choice on the TEJAS steel work mounts that the only ones I would go with.

What exhaust manifolds did you get?

Everything I have seen on Scotty's work is first class. Plus he supports the squarebody community in the facebook forums, really well!

They are the Summit cast iron manifolds, basically their version of the popular hooker ones, at 2/3 the cost. Ceramic coated and come with the flange and 02 sensor bung welded in. PN SUM-G9084B

I got my radiator securely mounted... Went with the proper mounting top plate for my '75. The one i had prior was for a 81-91 big block, this one is 73-80 BB. Fits nice and flat. Did have to drill and insert bolts from the top of the mount, no way to get under that part of the core support to attach nuts.

Ordered the sender from Hot Rod Fuel Hose and scored the pump off ebay. Assembly was rather simple, but the instructions were useless, so just look at the picture and piece it all together. One thing is the pump came with the higher quality clamps that require the special tool to install. I'm sure regular worm gear hose clamps would work fine... I just hate those things!

Good choice on those manifolds! I had heard of those and since they are a fraction of the "brand" names... I think you will do fine with them.

Your engine compartment is really going to be looking sharp soon.

Are you going to add A/C? It would be fairly easy with those Tejas mounts!

A/C? I got A/C! It’s those two little wing windows at 50mph
No I don’t plan to run AC. I could say it’s because it doesn’t get that hot here blah blah blah but really it’s cause it’s expensive and I’m intimidated by ac systems. This truck wasn’t AC originally…

So... ran into a bit of a pickle here... 87+ fuel tanks have a 1 11/16th inch opening on the filler tube. The filler neck from 75 is 1 3/8". I can't seem to find a filler hose that has 1 3/8 on the filler side and 1 11/16 on the tank side. As popular as these swaps are, I'm surprised the fix for this isn't all over the web. Chime in with anything you've found...

Look into exhaust reducers. You can usually find them in close enough sizes for a worm-gear clamp & then reduce each end closer to what is required.

Usually will work as long as you have a long enough straight section for the splice area.
