Here is a '40 Convertible I owned in the late 1960's, early '70's. I sold it before I had a chance to do anything with it. I only drove it up and down the alley a few times. Sorry about the small picture, I sized it down to put on my web site.

link seems to be broken but the owner of this '40 poured the concrete slab for our fuel island, he lives just a few miles from the farm

Re: I know, I know It's a ford ,BUT ...

Cool trucks, but I'm not a fan of painted over chrome. With a vintage vehicle I like to see the body left original, classy. Same with extended cabs, no thank you. I see a ruined truck. If the cab is too small stick with one you can fit into... or buy a coollass Panel! When I was a young whippersnapper surfer and surf vans were the thing, I wanted an old Panel wagon in the worst way

A heady duty Panel. Ford used a different style on the larger series trucks

The lighter green one in post #31 and the black one with flames above would be Sedan Deliveries, one door in the back instead of two. I almost bought one last year, 24 miles South of me, but held off. I talked to the guys brother a while back and he said that he had sold it. I like the Panel Trucks but the Sedan Deliveries are my favorite.

Yeah, I think it's cool they made both. Well, Chevy did, too. But, Ford light trucks still used the same sheet metal as cars. Ford actually made panels with two sheet metal designs since the one tons used different sheet metal than half and three quarter tons. I tell the panels from the sedan deliveries, first by the panel having full length rain gutters, then by length and shape of back end of roof... if not looking at the rear.

This guy is at all the swap meets and rod runs with this street driven gasser. He tows a trailer with it and goes a lot more places than swap meets and rod runs, I'll tell you what. To me this is cooler than the one that started this thread. This car is a true legend. I've been seeing it for decades .

I took these pictures today at the local swap meet, set-up day

Hmmmmm…. That’s interesting….. I took this one late last summer at the big down town takeover show in Berryville…

It’s a pretty damn cool car in person, I remember seeing it a bunch in the early 2,000’s all the way up to 2013 when I came back out here.

I just love gassers. I guess that one has the rear view mirror so the driver can see the guy that he's racing.

It gets around, that's for sure. Someone in every state except Hawaii has seen this car on the road. 500,000 miles and counting!

That, and to be street legal as well as see the trailer he's towing. He vends at swap meets so tows a trailer full of parts.

The Gasser is a nice car. The title may say '40 but it's actually a '39, at least the body is. If it was a '40 the windshield wipers would be on the cowl instead of the roof. Taillights and trunk handle are '39 also but those would be pretty easy to change. The wipers, not so much.....

Some people may find it hard to believe he has put that many miles on it but I have a friend that has a 1932 Ford 5 Window Coupe that has put about the same amount of miles on it. My cousin here in town has a Model A Ford Coupe that has over 200,000 on it. I don't drive any of mine that much but I do drive them.

Simply just classic styling that never gets old. Buddy of mine had a 40 model truck and I fell in love with the styling back then.

Yeah, the person who posted that video got it wrong. It seems a common mistake. I've talked to this guy over the years and I'm sure it's true he did all that traveling. He has it all logged, and documented with pictures to shush any skeptics. He's had that car for 40-50 years and has always been about being a long miler. My friend Ray Slagle has a '37 Chevy he has owned since the '70s. It has remained the way he built it and he has done some long trips. I know he did a 5-6 thousand mile trip out west in it at least once. It is the same as he built in in the '70s, stock steering, brakes, rear. He can be seen at all the rod runs as well. I'm sure his has logged less miles. He owns many vehicles, including a black & white '72 K/20 Cheyenne Super and a beautifully restored '51 Autocar tractor... and more

Re: I know, I know It's a ford ,BUT ...

Hera's my '40 Deluxe Coupe I've had since the '80s. Never finished it. Tried to sell it this weekend. Lots of interest but no takers. Same thing with my '62 Vette I finished up in the early '80s. I was only asking 25 for it. I went down to 15 on the '40 for a guy but he said he wouldn't give more than 10. People were playing tough. I did sell my immaculate black on red '68 SS396 El Camino 4spd for 30

Re: I know, I know It's a ford ,BUT ...

That's cool for your scrapbook.

I know it's not a Ford, but... My friend art has had this '36 Plymouth for a very long time. He is a long time friend of my former neighbor, Eddie. Eddie retired and moved to SC, but ever since I've lived in this place (37 years) Eddie, Art, and Mike had built vehicles out of Eddie's garage. I can see his place across the meadow from my place. No pictures of Art's '36 except this picture I snapped from it, of Eddie's '68 C/100n our way in to Jimmy Cone for the cruise-in
