No, I thought Deuce was looking to install the stereo in the heater location, but I could have a new part made with the inner hole opened up that would fit around the heater/ A/C controller perfectly and look identical to the radio plate. The only catch is I would need just as much interest in that piece as well for the price to be the same.

Re: Billet Radio Plate for cut dash...opinions?

mahanian, if i send you the measurements of my dash along with pics would it be possible to make me a one off for my entire hole that has been cut in my dash. It would be for radio, ash tray and heater control panel? If not I can still use the radio piece

Re: Billet Radio Plate for cut dash...opinions?

Do you have a mailing address I can send a money order??

I'll take 1 polished and 1 un-polished for Arad68.

How much shipped to Las Vegas, paying with M/O??

No need to measure, I have it memorized well after so many iterations to get the final size!

It's exactly 8 3/4" long and the outer edge of the fastener holes are 8 1/4". If the plate is big enough to cover your cutout but you won't have any sheetmetal to put fasteners through, you could take two pieces of scrap sheetmetal and fasten them to the plate so that they clamp the edges of your cutout area....if that makes sense....just a thought.

I'll PM you my address. I'm planning on shipping them priority mail, so the rate will be the same anywhere in the US...$5 for the first, $2 for the second. So the total will be $63+$77+$7 for shipping = $147

Re: Billet Radio Plate for cut dash...opinions?

Another thought. Can you make the center to hold 2 or three 2" gauges? I am thinking of putting the radio in the glovebox. There is a radio delete plate out there that does this but it clips in and doesn't work with a butchered dash w/out a lot of work...and doesn't look as nice as your piece.

It may be difficult to install the fasteners from the back, but I'll see what I can do. I don't think it will be a very popular item so the cost for a one off item would be quite a bit higher..

Re: Billet Radio Plate for cut dash...opinions?

Dang just let me add feul to the fire! Is there ANY possible way you could make a simular unit to put the ORIGINAL radio back into a cut dash? That same peice only with the 2 round holes and 1 rect. hole. I would rather fix the cut dash with a billet piece like that.

FU#$IN previous owner asshats anyway!

EDIT: I would be willing to PAY more for such a gem

I'm sure that is doable as well if you don't mind the additional cost...

Re: Billet Radio Plate for cut dash...opinions?

Actually I could go for both what I mentioned AND one for around the heater controls with the center lip removed.
I want as much bling as I can get inside the cab.

Edit: You figure up these 2 sanded and let me know the price Ill be glad to pay ya for the custom one off price

In a perfect world where money wasnt an object I would want ign cyl ring and cig lighter ring the little metal trim peice that goes under the steering colum AND more

Looks like three would fit and that's what i'd prefer. Don't need the ball milling

This may have been asked already but does this fit all DIN units?

Actually, no one has asked that yet. All DIN stereos are a standard size, and so is the trim ring that goes around them. Just to satisfy my own curiosity, I went to Best Buy with my ruler in hand and measured. They were all the same size.

DIN= "Deutsch Industrie Normen" which translates roughly to "German Industrial Standard". This means any DIN sized head unit, regardless of manufacturer MUST meet the established criteria outlined in the standard- including physical dimensions.

It seemed like there was so much interest but only 4 people willing to buy?

I took some measurements of the heater control cutout last night and it's being modeled in CAD right now. The part will look very similar to the radio plate. For anyone interested in both the radio and heater control part I will give you a package price.

Re: Billet Radio Plate for cut dash...opinions?

So when you put the DIN sized radio in can you still use the little black cover ring? If not won't the edge of the metal sleeve show? Also my CD player is the type that folds down so that you can insert the CD behind the face plate, will the billet lip interfere with letting the face plate open? I am interested but I would like to see one installed with the radio in it if that is possible. I like the idea for making it possible to have the stock radio back in a hacked dash too.

The black trim ring will fit and the stereo face will lay down as well. I will install a stereo into the next radio plate I get shipped to me, should be Monday or Tuesday.

Re: Billet Radio Plate for cut dash...opinions?

I got the heater control bezel and the updated radio plate in the mail today and they look GREAT! Here are some unpolished pics. I can't wait to polish them up and install them this weekend! I also installed a stereo chassis and trim ring in the radio plate so everyone can see that it fits very well...

Interested in both pieces pending pics of the heater one, pics with a radio installed, and final pricing for the pair. I think most are waiting to see a radio installed.
