my project (84 gmc)

Im building up my 84 GMC truck, as of right now the engines being built. It is a smallblock Chevy 436in with Eagle 4'' forged crank, Eagle 6'' H rods, Je pistons dome 4.165'', custom ground cam, Brodix heads w/2.08 intake and Brodix single plane highrise intake both port and polished to match each other, also a 1050cfm carb. The trans will be a built up th400 and the rearend will be a 10bolt with Auburn chunk and Richmond 4:10 gear ratio.

As soon as i can i will post picks of the build. I have a pic of the truck and once i get back home hopefully i will have the pics of the engine getting built.

Re: my project (84 gmc)

My engine builder said it shuld be in the mid 12s. All it will have is close to 550+ hp and over 500ft/torque. Then later im thinking of getting a 84 s-15 and put it there. But thats still in the air.

Re: my project (84 gmc)

With 550hp (at the crank) and 500ftlbs, I think it will go faster than mid 12's with the right set up.

With my converter locked, mine made 410rwhp/366ftlbs and unlocked (which yours will be) 386rwhp/366ftlbs. At 3,840 lbs with me in it, I went 12.33 @ 110mph. I can't imagine you having a 164hp/134tq loss through the drive train.

After shipping...around $1,900....anything less is a good deal. If I had it to do all over again, I would try to find a good used one or even a bowtie block from racingjunk. The casting is pretty thick so they rarely crack, unlike factory blocks.

Re: my project (84 gmc)

k theres been many changes and im sure there be many more. my engine builder just ordered my block, it will be a world product block. the reason he sayed was cuz it will need less machine work on the block for the 4.00' crank plus it was cheaper. its takeing a long time(money issue) but im sure i will love it once its finish.
