Anyone make their own gas tank straps?

My truck is built on an S-10 frame, and the cab is mounted much closer to the frame than the S-10 cab was. In order to use the stock S-10 tank I dropped it 2 1/4" in its stock location. I made new hangers for it, but the original straps were cut off before I bought the frame.

What have you guys used to make tank straps? I've only seen stock straps with the bolt that tightens it up riveted to one end, but I'm concerned about welds holding up it I made one. That's a lot of weight to trust thin sheet metal to hold. Anybody got pics of what they did?

Re: Anyone make their own gas tank straps?

I picked up an aftermarket gas tank mount kit from the local cheapie parts store for 5.99. All stainless straps and buckles.
