Re: 72 K20 Cheyenne Super Build

Thanks guys!

Did this truck come with one of those charcoal canisters mounted under the hood to vent the gas tank? If so, anyone have some detailed pics to help me out?

'72 3/4 ton and up should not have had a charcoal canister, at least for Federal emissions, California emissions I am not certain.

That's helpful and may explain why there wasn't one under the hood. Thanks. Pete

Wow, I'm not sure how you hid this build from me . I'm really digging it. It almost makes me want to two tone mine, but I don't think it would look as good as the orange/white combo.

Man I'd love to have those on right now and Eric the shop manager knows that. He has a good point for holding off though as they could be stepped on to reach areas in the bed etc. and get scuffed up. So for now we are holding off. Stay tuned!

Re: 72 K20 Cheyenne Super Build

Scared up a NOS engine timing tab to swap out with the now orange OEM piece - thanks for the feedback. Went with a standard HEI distributor rather than a small body type: wanted to avoid use of a coil.

Trim going on. A combo of Mar-K upper and NOS wood grain lower. I went with all metal clips for the trim attachment rather than a combo of metal and adhesive. GM NOS vent shades and door handles are in place.

Re: 72 K20 Cheyenne Super Build

Need help with this install fellas. This is an OEM Blazer skid plate. The cross member is supposedly correct for the skid plate but you can see there's a crazy gap between the plate and its cross member. Is that a correct cross member or were spacers used in the installation of the plates on a Blazer? I suspect I was sold an incorrect cross member - hope the frame holes align with a correct member.

First pic is mine second a borrowed pic of an installed plate.

Can you swap the two members, it looks like your front one is longer.

I think what I'll have to do is scare up an auto tranny crossmember and use that. I'm told that a skid plate xmember is the same as the auto tranny xmember minus the riveted brackets.

Not a bad thought....we tried that actually but it looked too funky for my taste...kinda like a 6" blocks under leaf spring lift look
