Re: Tinted windows ?

I can get you a pic of mine after work today. They are grey, not sure where they came from, as I bought them off the parts board second hand.

Re: Tinted windows ?

Grumpy, are you referring to the current glass version of Soft-Ray? If so, I have that installed for the windshield. I can get you a pic if that's what you need.

Re: Tinted windows ?

Grumpy,
I got my grey class from Auto City Classic, Inc. The part number for the complete glass kit is 67PKG. I can take a picture to show the tint level but I would estimate it is about a 30% smoked grey tint. The windshield has I lighter tint then the side, vent or back glass. If you need the pic let me know. Right now it is cloudy and rain so I would need to wait for a sunny day to show the tint level.

Re: Tinted windows ?

Grumpy, here's a pic of the green windshield I bought from LMC in the last couple of years. The rest of the glass in my A/C cab is factory green tint and it matches in hue and value. Windshield mfr is DOT-686.

Re: Tinted windows ?

Extremely difficult to catch the tints accurately with a camera.
Might try putting something white behind the glass it will highlight the tint.

Re: Tinted windows ?

You might also want to look into ceramic tinting. It is suppose to be more durable that the normal tint products. It is also suppose to keep your interior cooler when it is in the sun.

Re: Tinted windows ?

I'm getting ready to order all new glass for the 2 -67's I'm working on and the smoke/grey looked dark in the ads but some real life pics shows me they will both work great . , The green looks good with the green paint .

Re: Tinted windows ?

Did GM trucks use green or gray during the same production years, or was it green some years & gray others?

Edit: After a little research it seems like my "gray" factory glass is probably green. I'm about the last guy to ask about colors, but I think I can see it, which unfortunately I can't pick up in a picture. Per the top link RPO A11 is green. My 71 Deluxe & 72 Super have the A11 option.

Below is a picture of the Smoke Gray Back glass.
Purchased online. I am doing the same "all the glass but the front window" in the Smoke Gray. Inside it looks darker than outside.

I like that smoked gray a lot, even my eyes can see the color difference.

Re: Tinted windows ?

I finally ordered my glass from Auto City after a year of going back and forth over the tint color , i was a little worried today when the box had a dented corner when Fed Ex "dropped " it off ! , But all is good and I was worried it would be too dark but it looks just fine , I called Auto City last week and asked if the glass was DOT stamped , I was assured it was and they had no problems with tint laws and being too dark , Well it's got a DOT stamp but once it's installed you won't be able to see it on the edge of the glass .

Re: Tinted windows ?

Looks good Grumpy.
I think your grey tint is a bit heavier than mine. I will be interested to see the pics once you have them installed.

Re: Tinted windows ?

I'm not sure who's truck this is but I really liked the color and the tinted windows , I'm thinking it's close to the 68 Corvette Safari yellow paint . as much as I like the 503 green with the green tinted windows it will have to wait for my next truck .

The green tint looks awesome with grapefruit, especially with a parchment interior. Really stands out.
