That Sirius is a subscription right? Commercial free?

You can get Sirius equipped aftermarket stereos for older rigs. Check out Crutchfield. I have used them more than once and they have a good selection and very good tech support. I used to keep Sirius in my work vehicle since I drove so much but eventually dropped them. They are not totally commercial free any longer and the price was out of whack for what I was listening to.

I think you can get a package that allows you to listen through their App and then you could just bluetooth that over to your stereo as well. Just a thought.

By the way, I always liked the straight SPORT sticker on the bed better than the sort of curved one that was on my 92. Just looked more classic to me.

Hey Bill. So I figured. I'm sure not going to pay to listen to commercials.

Re: Looking to replace our baby

Did these trucks come with 7" or 8" rims or could it be either? The owner says he still has the window sticker..........maybe I should just call him to find out. I'm gonna go ahead and get some white letter 275/60R15 tires and get them on it as soon as I get the truck. The truck is at stock height. 275's didn't rub on the Milk Cow, and I know that those were 8" rims because I put them on there.

Are 275's too wide for 7" rims?

I think they were 8" rims because they had the same rim/tire combo as the 454SS and the stock tires were some pretty wide, blackwall BF Goodrich tires. Cannot remember the exact tire but the size was 275/60-15.

Thanks, that's the size I want. I like my tires like I like my women.......wide & not too tall.

They'll fit on a 7" wheel. The sidewall will be pinched vs square/plumb w/a wider wheel.

Then you can get a narrow tire and it will get wider after a while

Re: Looking to replace our baby

Here it is all washed up with new shoes on down here in Arkansas.

Truck made it from Little Rock 100 miles south with no issues at all. Still gonna get the belts & hoses checked after Memorial Day weekend and gonna get some dual exhausts & a rumbly Flowmaster put under it......then I’m gonna drive it.

Re: Looking to replace our baby

Thanks Friends. Still got some things to do to suit my own taste, but the previous owner & his family in Ohio definitely took extra special care of it for the past 30 years.

Great looking truck. And there are plenty of mods to get that TBI 350 sounding good and pulling hard.

Re: Looking to replace our baby

Well it’s been a few weeks since I got my truck. Had my mechanic friend replace all belts & hoses, recharge AC, & put a new Flowmaster 1 in 2 out exhaust system with some shiny chrome tips. Son & daughter paid for the window tint and wifey helped me wax & detail it this past weekend. Got a fresh oil change and put a drop hitch receiver under it and it’s ready to roll. Radio plays intermittently and I’ve got an appointment to get a Sirius XM radio & new speakers installed on July 2, along with a GPS receiver that’ll be hidden behind the dash while they’re doing the radio. If some S.O.B. P.O.S. steals this one, the police will be able to go right to him!

Re: Looking to replace our baby

Ordered a 454 SS in 1989.
Dealer salesman of the year: Can I help you?
I'd like to order a truck, GM discount.
OK, 1/2 or 3/4 ton?
A 454 SS. Option code is B4U.
1/2 or 3/4?
Only available in half ton. Order option B4U.
Regular or extended cab? Short, or long bed, 2wd or 4wd?
Only comes regular, short bed, 1/2 ton, 2wd. Order option B4U.
Color?
Only comes in black. Order option B4U.
Interior?
Only comes in red. Order option B4U.
Radio?
Only comes with top level. Order option B4U.

etc etc etc.

I could tell mine was ordered because all the dealer stock ones had a locking gas cap and mine didn't. That was the only available option.

The chrome wheels are all the same. The 454SS used black center caps instead of the chrome ones.

They were supposed to make only 2499 of them, they were so popular they just made a bunch and paid the fuel economy penalty.

Took it to the track and got kicked by bone stock 5.0 mustang GT's. If I brake torqued it it would spin all the way thru 2nd. If not it would spin all the way thru first.
Wife-to-be hated it.
Traded it in on a W/T regular cab, AC, Auto, no other option rubber floor fridge white 1/2 ton long bead. Drove that 216,00 miles until had 2 kids so couldn't take the family in it.

Love your truck.
