Re: 3 position ignition switch

I saw that switch but it looks like the bezel that would be screwed onto the switch from the outside of the dash would not have clearance at the top of the orginial hole. This is not a problem with the orginial switch since there is no bezel to deal with. Have you installed one of these before. If do did you have any trouble with clearance for the bezel?

Re: 3 position ignition switch

I was thinking you could use a 54 switch and you might be able to but it does mount different than the 53 and earlier switches.
You might take a look at the 54 switch though http://www.classicpartsusa.com/produ...rts_Electrical One example but most of the truck trinket vendors have them.

I personally have never had any luck with the universal switches staying put in the 48 dash as they always want to come loose as the threaded part of the switch is usually smaller than the hole in the dash by quite a bit.

The simple solution would be a push button start switch either in the dash or hidden under the dash. That's also a safety feature if you have kids as they can't be dinking with the key in the switch and start the car if they are sitting in the truck. And yes I know that "none" of our kids ever touched the switch when we were out of the truck or when they climbed in it when we were working on it.

Re: 3 position ignition switch

Those 3 prong switches are volt dependent?
