Re: April 2018 ToTM

Id like to nominate my truck. It looks better in the pictures than it really is. Every time I close the doors pieces of rust fall off. I trailered it home because the original th350 was puking oil. After fixing the leak with a 4spd swap I took it for a test drive. The first turn I took resulted in my soda bottle rolling across the floor and coming within about 1/2 in of falling through the hole in the passenger side floor. The rubber floor mat is the only thing that held it in. This truck will probably wont be around much longer but is currently licensed and insured and driven. Oh yeah and my dad bought it new, sold it to great grandpa, then on to grandpa, back to dad and now I have it.

I Submit the Junkyard Dog. It may appear to be primed, but that is the factory color. It actually says Custom paint on the SPID. It came light gray with a blue interior. She's ugly, but the ol 351 V6 runs like a champ! Plus it is rocking 18" wheels before they were cool!

Re: April 2018 ToTM

Let's give this a try!

1977 C10 Bonanza. Built and delivered in February of '77, she never left the county until her first time just a couple years ago. Lived a long life on the farm doing plenty of work, and it shows! There's a dent on every panel except the roof and hood, and it has rare the optional zip tie and tape attached cracked taillights, trim flaps in the wind. You can open the passenger door... but the hinge is broken so it falls half off, cracked when the door was hit.

Something dark grey grows on the paint and windows, doesn't matter how many times you wash it... it's had various car soaps, bleach in the water, dawn dish detergent... even Mr clean magic erasers. Always grows back.

It's one truck you can park in a lot with the windows down and not worry about anyone messing with it, let alone being willing to park next to it (they wont). Pepole always yield the right of way, even if they don't have to, and move aside when they see you coming up from behind!

Still, for all that this oddball hasn't rolled over her odometer yet, has the original 250 inline 6, th350, 12 bolt rear, but bonanza trim, factory rally wheels, so forth.

Lots of places round here that's a selling point/feature! Can spit your dip out that hole, toss out an empty while on the road... dump an open container before you get pulled over... point those things out on a sale sign by a trailer park, you won't have it long!

Re: April 2018 ToTM

Here's my work in progress I'd like to nominate. Feels cheesy nominating your own truck but hey whatever.

Re: April 2018 ToTM

I guess I'll nominate myself... I have a 1969 Chevy Suburban that I've had for about 6-7 months. PO used spray paint on some of the major and minor rust spots on the body. They also took my barn doors, so I have tailgate/latch that don't match and the weld broke within the first week I got it home. The front passenger fender is non-original, has redish-orange paint behind the blue, and has a giant dent in it, that, again, was spray painted to match and hopefully stop rust. PO did give me another fender, as a replacement, that also has a dent in it. The rear quarters were dented and smashed in a bit, so I've replaced one, waiting on time to replace the other. The worst rust I've seen on it, so far, is on the floor by the 3rd door. There is old, shag carpet that was glued onto the original vinyl headliner that is falling off. Oh, yea, and when I was test driving it, the "roof rack" was a bed spring with pool noodles zip tied to it. I also have been having a hard time getting the damn shoe polish numbers off the windshield. I need a better ladder or someone with longer arms to reach the last "0". Even the ones I got off, there's still remnants of the polish and smears I can't get off with just windex, but haven't tried anything stronger.

I'm hoping to start more major body work on it in the next months.
