Re: Factory Tow Hooks

Hey 63-C10 do you know where I can find factory rear hooks for my truck? Same vehicle as above ('61 3/4 ton 4WD).

Also has anyone thought about adding a bracket to reinforce the frame area where these mount? I don't know what the last owner pulled with my truck, but the frame is buckled right at the hook mounting bolts... Might be a good idea to add a plate there.

Re: Factory Tow Hooks

Thanks for posting the pics of the tow hooks on the 3/4 ton, don't think we have those pics documented yet. I've got a set that I don't think I'm going to use (rear hooks). PM sent.

Re: Factory Tow Hooks

Here are some pics of the mounting holes after I removed the hooks. Might help someone as a reference... These were a dealer installed item (not factory) so there were probably some variations in the mounting hole locations.

Re: Factory Tow Hooks

I'll look for factory diagrams.....as I've added a lot more literature to my collection from my same inquiry a couple of years ago....but this is what I found then.....

so they look like they are mounted on the side of the rear portion of the frame?

Re: Factory Tow Hooks

Not quite sure. Im trying to find a better image of the diagram. This pic is the only one I've ever seen with any factory diagrams. From what I've learned off the forum....they are obvious listed in the GM accessory books from 60-72....but no one has seen a factory 10-30 series install. Although they were dealer available to install from day 1. Most applications were med-heavy duty trucks. May also account for so little literature. I'm going to dig through my books tonight and see what I can dig up.

Re: Factory Tow Hooks

I have both sets front and rear hooks but haven't installed them because I wasn't sure where to put them and have been waiting for someone to show the correct factory locations. it looks like you guys are getting close.

Re: Factory Tow Hooks

I know the 1/2 tons aren't drilled for them....at least the 2wd's. I installed mine where they fit best on the frame....plenty of pics earlier on in this thread. Haven't found any factory rear mounted trucks from 60-72 yet for 10-30 series.

The GMC factory hooks above in post 59 looks to be the old style GMC logo, which I believe ended around 59ish.......
