Re: 72 Suburban Making it mine

Burban drove out of the shed tonight. Filled with water, did a rough tune for idle and VE table....found my O2s are not reading, need to figure that out. Also put my father in laws 17s on it, they look great! I also think the BBC front springs are a bit much...

Re: 72 Suburban Making it mine

So I had a trans PCM miss match issue. I talked with HP tuners and got the latest beta version software that would allow segment swaps in the tune. I was able to swap the trans segment from a 2500HD 2wd tune with an 80E to replace the 60E segments in my Denali PCM.

Worked like a charm, took the sub out and it shifted like silk! It was nearly out of gas, drove about 5 miles in to town and filled it up. No hick ups no burps, ran great. Tune still needs some work, but its going down the road!

No hood got some funny looks

and with the 3.07 rear end, she is just chugging down the road at low RPM

Re: 72 Suburban Making it mine

Just read through your entire build thread, cool stuff!

How much higher does the front sit than it did with the old big block? Isn't your 5.3 an iron block/alum head version?

Dwight

Thanks Dwight. I honestly think it sits about the same as it did before, maybe an inch higher in the nose.

I started to go 5.3. and went 6.0, but yes alum head iron block. Does weigh much less than the 402. I'm having the 2" drop coils put in later next week.

Re: 72 Suburban Making it mine

All the work paid off, logged 700 plus miles this past weekend and Monday running on the Hot Rod Power Tour. Had a blast! Got to hang out with fellow board member Advanced Design, and meet his wife and his crew. Was fantastic to meet you Doug!

Man day one, made the Hot Rod web site, mission accomplished!

Brad it was awesome to finally meet! You have a great suburban there. Nice and a very clean LS swap. Would have been cool to get the Burbs together for a photo...another time.

Re: 72 Suburban Making it mine

brad, bang up job on this one! i've been trying to talk my wife into something similar to this for quite some time. i'm getting closer i think, i've convinced her that she could daily drive a jeep/old bronco or mustang if we had a nice big home built family cruiser.

i have my heart set on an olds vista cruiser with a 442 hood, but my wife is 100% anti-station wagon, so a burb will end up in the garage.

Re: 72 Suburban Making it mine

Brad - Champaign would be about half way. Would be cool to hook up at a cruise in.

OutlawDrifter - A Burb is a cool choice for many reasons. There is a very nice one in Abilene KS I was considering before we bought the green one Brad found for us in Peoria. PM me if you are interested in details.

Thank you thank you!!! Its been a lot of long nights and weekends, but SO worth it!

I to was on the Olds/Chevelle wagon train. Wife wasn't into it, she liked the burb. I'm happy, deep down I'm a truck guy!

Re: 72 Suburban Making it mine

Went tonight and scored a parts sub. Glass is in great shape, mine is scratched, has deluxe interior, rear ac has the vent bezels that mine is missing.

She's ugly. ... and missing a frame. ..

I'll keep it around and use some parts and pieces and wait for scrap price to go back up
