305 V6?
Was at the junk yard yesterday and found a 67 chevy wrecker with a 305 V6. Anyone know where to get replacement parts for this motor? I couldnt find anything at the local parts stores not even a starter. Before i pick it up i would like to know where to find replacement parts and maybe a rebuild kit. Thanks

Check with Northern Auto Parts 800 831-0884, www.northernautoparts.com or I would check with Kanter automotive. I don't have any #'s for Kanter, but you should be able to find them on any search engine.

Think id suggest leaving it there,i know where theres tons of them if you need parts,but new parts arent readily available at most parts store,kinds like having a 409 you dont goto the autoparts store and say i need a water pump now,think id go with a small block or big,unless you want for originality,or a non daily driver.

those are GREAT motors, better than any of the v8s as far as reliability. They are the ultimate motor for reliability and durability as far as GM is concerned. Very good motor, but they are a little hard to find parts for, but they will outlast any v8 too.

if you're in an area where farming is the norm, you shouldn't have any trouble finding parts, there are alot of GMC 2 ton trucks running around with that engine.

I have a 305V6 in my truck as standard and am planning on keeping it. Everybody has a V8 small block (sooo common). I just bought a complete second engine from slamed67 for $250. I have been buying parts at NAPA. Lots of school buses use this engine. It is just a little more work to use a V6.

As said before NAPA, Went to another brand of store and they called me a lair That GMC didn't have a V-6 in 67 But thats what I expect from some kids most days they talk before checking or asking....
