Tranny swap

Found a decent-looking Saginaw 4-speed on ebay that I plan to rebuild and hook up to my 400 SBC. Right now I'm running a somewhat tired TH350 and I'm in the mood to start shifting gears again. Any thoughts on clutch combo, bellhousing, etc., greatly appreciated.

Re: Tranny swap

You might want to rethink that buy!
If you plan on babying that tranny then it might last awhile. Any sort of abuse and it’ll grenade.

Re: Tranny swap

The SBC has a mild cam, but the truck (it's a '56 stepside on a mid-70s chassis) is a driver. Not planning to do any serious dragging! I'd love to put in a Muncie, but they're steep. Figured I'd go for the Saginaw and do a good rebuild.
