Re: Red rebuild

Been busy...trying to make the show, but time is running out. Got most of the wiring done, waiting on a few things. My biggest issue right now if my pedal/tac combo not working...
PCM mounted and almost done wiring

Had a mobil hydraulic hose company build me 2 trans lines to run to the C10 radiator

Picked up a new pigtail for the alternator, have to figure out which one wire to hook it up to.

Re: Red rebuild

Well... had the PCM reflashed to be an older model and still no luck... Can't drive it, but can still work on it.

Got the bed back on and cleaned up that area. Had a wire break off on one of my valves, so I have to find another...

Reinstalled the pass fender in attempt to install the new Slosh Tubz, but they look like they will hit and need some trimming.

Painted the underside since they are raw fiberglass.

All they way up just sitting there.

Been on hold for a bit. I have been out of town. Just got back and will get back into gear full steam. Picked up a throttle body from CL while I was away and looks like that was the problem with the gas pedal. I can finally rev the engine.

Debating on painting the tubz body color or black like the engine bay. What do you guys think?

Re: Red rebuild

Levae the tubs black. The only way to me the would look good body color is if the firewall was done in body color also. I say leave them all black. Maybe if you want some time of color on them get some pinstriping done on them in red

Re: Red rebuild

Took a break for some family time for a few weeks, but finally got around to my install. I can't lay it out because the bump there to clear the heater lines on the pass side hits the tire about 2" from laid out, so I have some more trimming on the pass side, but they are mostly in. That intake is hideous, have an AirRaid ubuild it kit coming, have to figure out some way to route that radiator line where it looks decent.

Re: Red rebuild

Haven't updated in a while. It's been so hot here I haven't wanted to brave the heat.
Had everything running, then all of a sudden started getting a lean bank 1 and bank2. Turned out to be a bad fuel filter, then a fuel leak at the pump.

Built my intake, but not sure if I like it. It is an Airaid diy kit all ABS plastic, just cut your angle and use couplers to put it together.

Had to change the power steering pump because mine was whining. Sounded like I had a whipple on it running down the street.

Bumper and grill is on now, going to rework the DBW pedal.

Got my new Dakota Digital VHX guages in the mail on Friday! Can't wait to get these in and not have to use DashCMD on the iphone to read the guages.

I think I want a something to cover my radiator need to find someone with a break and some exp.

Re: Red rebuild

Started the guage install. Broke off the H2O temp sensor adapter in the head, but got it out and have one one on order. Hope to get all the guages wired up by this weekend.

By the time I am done with these guages there won't be much left of the original main firewall harness.

Need to find someone local to bend me a nice looking radiator cover.

Re: Red rebuild

There are always the little things you have left, but the swap was completed end of Nov. Had it out for a show in Dec. Now hat to get it out more.
I have to say I would do it again on my next project. This motor runs circles around the old tired 305 that was in it.

Yep, I plan to. I don't like the look of the older style cover it came with. I have been looking for a deal on one from the newer ss camaro, then have to make it work.

Re: Red rebuild

Been a while since I updated. Newborn takes up most of my time.

Picked up some new shoes. HAve to have my front rotors turned down a bit to fit the caps on and thinking of going with a 225/35/20 tire sice my 275/45/20 is pretty tall. Think if I go smaller I can ride lower and still turn.

Decided to go with the 3 piece covers since the Camaro cover just did not look right. Picked the sides up on CL and bought the center. I think I needed the Escalade center instead of the Chevy, but it will do for now.
Not sure if I should leave it black or paint all 3 body color...

Getting ready to raise my bed floor and fill the gaping hole I cut in it for the notch, also trying to go back to engine driven compressor since I hate the noise of the electrics. Have to find some way to mount it on the right and make it look ok sitting there. The York 210 is one large ugly pump...
