What is the difference between the 69-71 and the 72.
I know the doors are diff. but what is the diff?
And is there any other differences. thanks

There are a few small differences, most of the same stuff that changed with the trucks also changed with the K5. For instance, 72's had a rearview mirror glued to the windshield, the older models had it bolted to the metal frame above the windshield. The window cranks and door openers have a longer shaft to fit through the different door panels that came along in 72 (in other words, the newer panels are “thicker” and the hardware had to be lengthened). Then there is the additional screw on the inside of the doors that braced the vent windows, but I think some of the 71’s had them also. Oh, yeah, 71 had a black trim stripe around the grill, 72 was all chrome. There are other details from the 71 to 72 change, I’m sure more people will chime in and help out, those are just the most obvious to me. Maybe someone will even provide pictures.

All first Gen Blazers had the same length, width, height, etc.

All '72s had front disc brakes - they were optional in '71. Double wall top was also available in '72. Interior door panels were molded plastic. Seat patterns were different for 71-72.

I have a double wall top so I don't think it was just a 72 thing.

Yeah, but what does your glove box tag say? Doesn't it distinguish between double and single wall top, also color? Maybe I'm wrong.

Gas filler neck,69-70 and 71-72, also throttle linkage 69-70 and cable 71-72,

I was under the impression 71 is when all models came stock with disc brakes up front.Are the blazers different

Single wall tops were available on the second half run of the 72 model, double walls were used on them as well. from what I was told, GM was prepping for the 2nd gen Blazers who has the single wall design only

If your meaning all vehicles, they were different for each model. Some GM cars had disc as standard eqipment earlier than others. Nova and other similar vehicles didn't get away from drum brakes till 75, allthough it was an option.

You`re right,Dustin...`71 for discs on all trucks,Burbs,Blazers,Jimmys,Panels,2 and 4wd.
