we are hoping it is as close to the factory color as listed, we did use a shade 4, it called for a 5 so it should be close?? (glove box listed: white/blue...572)

i'm building off the SPID... it list a "blue custom cloth trim...610" for interior. the above pics of the black interior was member hdff sending me some reference pics.

here is our interior as now . we do have carpet and headliner here, just not installed yet. waiting on the bench seat, door panels, inserts, etc. we'll do the interior pretty much last.

thanks.

Re: Lug Nuts project: Jims 72' Cheyenne Super

before the weekend..

got the bed mocked on yesterday for a quick look and fitment. we'll have to look at our bottom body line issue once we actually suck down the bed to get that cab and bed lined up. we did a tank relocate a month or so ago on our other 70 model chevy with a tank that fit under the frame with no issues, soooo my dumbass over looked putting this bed on before hand, so of course the gas tank hit the bed rail on bottom. I notched the rail out this morning so we'll have to go back in and touch it up. notched out the frame for the filler neck hose, also modded the tail light area out for the gas cap/fill area. built a little bracket out of a spare hinge and then ill go in and build a drop in pocket with the filler neck. got a flip up cap ordered, so I'll see how to mock that all up etc.. got fenders on and inner fender wells in, that all matched up good. so hopefully sometime next week we might have a whole truck assembled?.

ya'll have a good weekend!

as much as I agree with you on a drop, my boss man don't annnnnd it's his truck... I will level out the truck if need be?? and the wheel/tire combo will change, that'll probably be about it.

with the last week being $hitty from the ice storm we put the truck on hold and started cleaning up the broken trees and limbs around the yard and his properties, along with anyone else that had issues.

I did get the fuel lines done and the gas tank is bolted into place. waiting on the flip up gas cap and I'll get the tail light pocket made. received our headlights this morning and should be getting our GM PAUL order in this morning to finish out the brakes and headlight assembly etc... into motion and drop the hood on. its all the little stuff now.

headlights: from SUMMIT RACING #UPD-31379.... United Pacific Headlight Conversion, 7 in. Diameter, Crystal Headlight, 34 LED White Auxiliary lights, Each (Mfr. #: 31379)

Your right it’s his truck and my opinion.. I’m not saying slam it on bags, but at least a 2/4 like mine( I plan on going 4/6 someday)..... just a little to get the 4 wheel drive look out of it... lol

Re: Lug Nuts project: Jims 72' Cheyenne Super

making room in the shop finally...in our beginnings the boss' wanted to get on the Ford Bronco ban wagon. #1 bronco was stripped down and built and #2 bronco was all bought through Dynacorn, so it's new metal out of the box. #2 sat in the corner taking up room while we built #1 all in house along with other builds. i think #1 turned out nice for me not knowing $hit about Broncos'/Fords. soooo #2 bronco got moved up to his shop for him to try his hand out on building something... at least he'll have something to go off of... but it was nice to get the room back! so we can move our shear, brake, etc.. out of the way and have a little more working room!

back to the truck, i'll be starting on the part that everyone loves..wiring! . starting on the front end wiring this morning. we'll also throw in the headliner and visors to make the inside look a little progressed.

you see the other guy in the background , yesterday we took the Apache out and it had a fuel leak on the pump so its gonna get replaced today and i'm gonna do some cruising this weekend.

Re: Lug Nuts project: Jims 72' Cheyenne Super

made a little progress since last. set the bed on hoping it will suck down enough to line up good. got about all of the harness ran, just need to get interior stuff rolling in so wires can get landed etc.. under the hood for the harness is about knocked out, going to replace alternator. we tidied up and cleaned up the engine bay. got rid of the yellow? wires and ran the blue set with some brackets, new edlebrock 650 and cleaned up the fuel lines. just hoping once we are ready to buckle things down we can clean up the gaps a bit more. boss-man is extremely happy with it, so that is all that matters to us right now

Re: Lug Nuts project: Jims 72' Cheyenne Super

we finally got to make a little progress on the truck yesterday. we received our seat and door panel stuff just a day before this last arctic blast hit us! these parts came up from Texas from Southwest Classics. then the storm hit and we've been couped up and fighting mother nature. In my 43yrs of living that was some crazy intense chill, we got down to a -30 (wind chill)...insane for us around here and many others. (northern oklahoma)

but we got the carpet and seat layed in there. our arm rests and dash pad are slightly different in color to the seats/carpet/headliner, so im going to look into having them rewrapped? to help match up better, i hate painting "soft" parts so we'll see how these will turn out. that'll leave us to paint the door panels and put some Dynamat down. next up to order this week will be the gauges, radio and vintage air.

I fear my next speed bump will be the chrome trim around the wood-grain inserts. I'm having a hard time finding it "new". any help on this would be appreciated.

i basically built a bucket out of cardboard that would fit into the area, then used some left over 16gauge. kinda a trial and error. i bought the flip up cap off summit and took down the sides to fit into the pocket and then bolted and sealed it to my bucket. the magnetic latch is for cabinets; push to unlock and lock (and yes it has held up to at least 80mph). for a hinge i bought from tractor supply and cut off what i needed. i added about 2" to the length of the filler neck. underneath the bed i had to cut away a small area of the bed edges for the filler neck 90* hose to fit up high enough. i then built a hose clamp type bracket that bolts up to a bed support bracket, that helps support the hose heading towards the tank. i used two 90* and a 3ft straight that i cut down to go from the filler 90 to the 90 heading to the tank, then straight to the top of the tank. there are two vent lines off my tank that have small inlet filters to help with breathing. it works and fills up great.

my only change i would've done, is extend my taillight ground wire to a different area. since i grounded to the light housing it was getting its ground source through the hinge causing it flicker on and off. so i had to add a wire to the light housing to make a better ground loop and now works great.

Re: Lug Nuts project: Jims 72' Cheyenne Super

so we've been busy trying to finish this out and our bronco project. so here are the latest pics of where we are at. we got both projects done a day before our local show here in Perry, ok. the turn out was great and the weather was perfect! it was good to get out to a show i haven't made one in like 10yrs!. overall our truck took first in its class 56-72 and our Bronco took 2nd in its class 4x4.

our boss is the owner of the truck and was more than super surprised with the turn out of the truck, saying it would've made his dad proud. to me that's all that counted!

now we're down to selecting a wheel and tire combo.

we're gonna do our shop truck project next;68' c-10 SW/step side and keeping the inline 6 w/4spd, it won't be a full frame off, we're just gonna do a clean interior and engine bay, also while working on a customers 57' Bel air (Art Morrison chassis with an LS).

thanks. we're thinking come winter time we are going to go in and do a good cut and buff on it, since we didn't have a lot of time towards that part at the end, just kinda a quick job just to get it to the local show. that way next year she'll shine really nice.
