yeah I considered doing that this weekend but ran out of time. so i think i'm gonna wait and put 3 inch drop coils, 3 inch drop spindles, and 6 inch drop mono leafs in the rear, later on down the road.

Skip the drop leaf spring.
Put your removed leafs back in,... and do a flip kit.
Much cheaper.

Yeah...that would work great...but, if ya never had sprayed a candy before, spraying a metallic base close to the candy coat, you run less risk of "tiger stripes" and blotchiness...
HOK has candy bases for avoiding such issues...to be used with their concentrates...

When considering paint choices/color, don't forget how you're going to use the truck. A DD, cruiser, or trailer queen? Additionally where are you parking? In a garage, carport or in the open? Some colors won't survive daily exposure to sunlight and you'll cringe when the first stone chip or parking lot ding appears on a DD.

Good luck and post a threat on your build progress.

you don't have to put a c-notch on the truck with the drop springs though, and I've priced out the two and the springs are only 20-30 bucks more than the flip kit. I was going to do a flip untill i found those springs. I'm all about easy bolt on stuff. Sorry if I sound hateful, I don't have good forum etiquette.

I probly wount do a candy because of this reason, but I have a buddy thats paints cars and trucks for a living so i'd probly get him to paint it anyway.

Def. not a trailer queen cause whats the point of having a vehicle if you can't drive it. but it will not necessarily be a DD more of a cruiser/once or twice a week driver. wont haul much with it except ass.

once i figure out how to post a build tread I'll let you guys know.

A flip is many times a better way to go, as ride quality stays the same (load capacity), unless the flip has less than a few inches of frame clearance, which with dropped leafs, you'll have the same issue anyway....
Neither of my trucks are C-notched and are flipped...they're just not ridiculously low.

As far as candy paint...the HOK system is a pretty foolproof way to go and get a nice looking "candy" style paintjob....even for a DD or cruiser....

I've had two daily driver 73-87 trucks with flip kits and no c-notch.
No loss of load capacity either.

IDK I'll have to think about it, I just figured it would be easier to do the spring instead of the flip kit.

Here in Missouri,... you can almost always bet on having (at least one) seized leaf spring bolt, that goes through the spring eye.
Remove the bumpstop metal bracket directly above the rearend, use shock extenders to correct rear shock angles,... and you will be fine with a flip kit.

Get your truck lowered and running/driving good,... and then worry about the paint.

I still would like more suggestions though, because paint won't come for a while yet. I still need to do some rust control, get two front fenders, and get the body straight. but any paint color suggestion is greatly appreciated.

I usually don't like red, but that red above is nice...
Keep in mind, red is generally more expensive than other colors....especially if ya have a special color mixed up.

Yeah, red is usually more, but some green is ridiculous spent $90 on a pint of green paint for my wheels on my bug. but I'm still open for more suggestions, red doesn't have to be the final say, who knows I may find a Pink or Purple I like.

yeah when I paint mine want something different. after I painted my bug semi-gloss black with bright green trim I started to see more black and green vehicles, atleast one in every car show not including mine.

I have seen a green called Synergy Green, and it's on a new Camaro at a local Chevy dealer, sorry I don't have a pic but I didn't have a camera, I'll try to take one and post it tomarrow.

That is an awesome green! It rivals any "custom mixed" green out there. It is as bright as antifreeze.
