64 c10 tax return refurbishment

So I’ve got a 64 c10 with a straight 6 that I had assumed for years was the correct engine.

Keep in mind this is a Canadian truck.

I know they either had a 230 or a 292, engine block casting # confirms it’s not a 292 but either a 250 or a 230. I removed a spark plug and the top of the piston looks flat which should make it a 250. Other than removing the top end and measuring the stroke how can I confirm what I have?

Bought a bunch of well needed parts to get it chooching a bit better. Whatever parts that gets removed gets cleaned up and painted before it goes back on.
I’ve been trying to find what colour the engine is suppose to be and I’ve narrowed it down to the Chevy orange ( which is what it was when I bought it ) and the light blue ( which is the colour the intake manifold was after I cleaned it off ).

So questions are:
How do I find out what engine I have?
Should I splurge on a 292 and build it?
What colour is my engine suppose to be?
Is the intake and exhaust manifold the same colour as the engine?
