Anyone know anything about a "trailer control module"?

So I just replaced my '04 Burban Z71 (which I'm now regretting) for a '01 GMC Sierra 2500HD 6.0L 2WD Manual Trans. When towing our horse trailer for the first time, we notice that the trailer brakes are dragging a bit when we have the headlights on but are normal when they are off. Took it to our trailer expert buddy and he said that he has seen the "trailer control module" go bad in these trucks and cause all kinds of weird symptoms. However, when I do a search for it, I can't find it. Can anyone verify this and/or recommend a fix? Trailer just got checked over with a clean bill of health and I just replaced the trailer connector on the truck due to corrosion. Thanks all!!

That's a really odd symptom. The trailer box is black on the driverside interior firewall, left of the brake pedal. Has a little plastic nut in the center to remove the cover.

Oh yea, I guess that would make sense. I plugged my brake control box into it. I just didn't put 2 and 2 together... Thanks!!
