Project: 1972 GMC Suburban 4x4

First off, I would like to say thank you for all of your help when I was doing research on buying my project Suburban! All of the threads and shared knowledge really helped me pick a winner.

So here it is! I have never done this before, both posting here and restoring a 67-72 truck! The progress is going to be very slow at first, mostly mechanical and rust repairs. After that though, who knows maybe a Duramax conversion?

Anyway, I hope you enjoy these first few photos of the big green dinosaur, "Dino" as my family has already started to call it...

Welcome!
Glad that the forum helped you pick the right rig for you! That's just one of many things that come from hanging out here.

Love love 4x4 burbs! GMC burbs are super cool, and it looks like you got yourself a really nice rig that gets out and about.

Re: Project: 1972 GMC Suburban 4x4

if I can offer one big bit of advice from someone who also has a project that is fairly new...
just enjoy the rig for as long as possible before you start anything major.

We have been doing small stuff like changing out the seats, adding dual batteries, a fridge for our off road trips but more than anything we have been just getting out and camping & loving the rig.
It really helps you figure out what you NEED to do vs what you WANT to do.
And most important, it starts to create family memories right away vs a project that everyone trips over but doesn't get to enjoy.

Great looking rig the way it is, and looking forward to your trip reports & build when it happens.

A great platform to start with. Keep us posted on the updates and like Lance said, do what needs to be done first and start enjoying it. Then you can pick away at your want to do list slowly as you enjoy the vehicle.

Welcome!
I would like a diesel suburban as well.
Lance has wise words, enjoy it as much as possible before tear down.
