Re: Boyd Welding-67-72 Rear Mount Aluminum Tank

How many would we need for a group buy and what type of prices are you thinking?

Also, do you have a supplier for the 90 ohm sending unit where you could add that to the cost or do we just purchase that on our own?

Re: Boyd Welding-67-72 Rear Mount Aluminum Tank

FYI the first tanks is mine that we did from an earlier group buy. I made a powerpoint slide with all the dimensions. (I attached the file, simply download and open)

The sizes could be tweeked a little to fit your frame...

Re: Boyd Welding-67-72 Rear Mount Aluminum Tank

I will commit on a EFI tank, for the group buy (if it happens).
I need to measure a few things and decide on the fill neck.

which walbro pump specifically you adding? Can you put a GSS342 (this is a higher pressure version) ?
Andy

Re: Boyd Welding-67-72 Rear Mount Aluminum Tank

I am in pending final pricing and if I can get the inlet turned 90 degrees to allow me to set up my fill in the stake pocket. Won't need a cap.

I can put a 90 deg filler on it instead no problem.

THATS 2.... KEEP IN MIND IM THE MANUFACTURER SO WE HAVE THE FLEXIBILITY TO MAKE MINOR CHANGES AS NEEDED. YOU WILL NOT GET A BETTER DEAL ANYWHERE.

Try to let me know which tank you are in for. the EFI or the STANDARD we will sort out the small details like fillers and fitting sizes later.

Re: Boyd Welding-67-72 Rear Mount Aluminum Tank

Dave..

I know your deal doesn't include a sending unit but I think it would be better if you had an exact unit to recommend to the buyer, or included one for the additional cost. The 67-72 take a 90 ohm but I think 66 and older take a different style. (30 ohm?)

This would make sure that they purchased one that fits your flange perfectly, the one I purchased from JC Whitney was slightly off from your flange, the holes were.

Thank you! I was actually thinking it would be nice if you offered the sending unit, fuel lines, a few different fill hose options etc as an add on to your tanks. It would be alot easier for those of us who don't know exactly what pieces to buy to pull the trigger.

Dave will customize you tank but you need to let him know what you want and he'll get back with you... Overall i'm happy with my tank that he built, very clean welds and sturdy... his QC is a little better now I think since mine had a lot of metal shavings that needed cleaned out, but that's an easy fix with a screwdriver and some Vaseline..

How are you attaching the tank to the frame - are you drilling the frame?

i would like to supply the senders or at-least give information on the correct ones for your applications. truth is i have no idea what you require either. The only senders i am familiar with are 0-90 ohm and 30-240 ohm

heres a jc whitney SunPro 33-240 ohm adjustable universal sender
http://www.jcwhitney.com/jcwhitney/p...questid=200348

heres a 0-90 ohm sender from e-guages
http://www.egauges.com/vdo_indS.asp?...90ohms&PN=SN38

both of those senders will fit my flange. also you can always have the sender drop shipped to me and ill install for free.

as for the sunpro sender. every one that i have ever installed or bought has fit perfect. My sending unit flange's bolt pattern only goes one way. all aftermarket senders with a 5 bolt pattern will fit it this flange as it is a US Standard pattern.

I will attempt to do a video here in the next couple days on installing a sender.

Thanks for bringing that up mike... Yes as mike said every tank can be customized to fit your specific needs, however i would prefer not to change the dimensions too much on the overall tank size. If that is a must please call me to discuss your options.

Our Quality Control processes have evolved a ton since then. I have added another inspection into our fabrication process which addresses metal shavings in the tank and metal shavings around the openings. We have also began to practice and adopt ISO Quality Standards.

Our Mounting angle come un-drilled to give you flexibility. I would assume that drilling the frame rails is an option but i think that question would be answered better by MSGROSS as i am unsure of the exact procedure required.

Re: Boyd Welding-67-72 Rear Mount Aluminum Tank

I am using existing holes in the frame to mount mine, since dave sends the flagnes "undrilled" as he stated you can make any adjustments and mount it exatly where you want. You might have to drill a new set of holes if you want extra support, really depends on your frame though since they are all a little different (LWB, SWB, 2WD, 4WD etc..)

I also plan on adding rubber spacers to isolate any vibrations that could cause stress cracks over time.

Re: Boyd Welding-67-72 Rear Mount Aluminum Tank

Quick question...how much gap between the top of the tank and the bed cross sill ( meaning can the side tabs be moved so that the tank sits a little higher and tucks even more up under the truck without coming into clearance issues with a bed crossmember)
