Order it with the powder coating. This will be your cheapest option unless you paint it yourself, or leave it bare. I got mine bare and it was $120 for powder coat or $130 for lineX coating.

I wanted to be part of the group buy but I need the gas cap centered so I guess I'll do custom order when you are ready.

Re: Boyd Welding-67-72 Rear Mount Aluminum Tank

The tanks are awesome. I ordered one from pro performance. Waiting to install on my friends lift.

Has anyone come up with a no fabrication required way to access a bed fill tank in a metal bed?

I have seen some guys cut squares out of bed and fabricate flat sheet metal to create a flat area to bolt in a door. I don't have a welder and before I search out someone who does, I would love to find a door solution that would work.

Re: Boyd Welding-67-72 Rear Mount Aluminum Tank

Hi Dave I received my tank today and it looks great.I have one small issue if I mount the tank from the bottom the filler neck does not clear frame,if I set it in frame it still does not clear but is usable I am going to mount on top of frame and space with some rubber gasket material.Just wanted to let you know.
My truck is a 1971 c10 factory shortbed.
Thanks for building such a nice product.
Brian

Re: Boyd Welding-67-72 Rear Mount Aluminum Tank

Dave, I'm having a problem with my roll over vent interfering with the cross support on the bed. When I ordered my tank I talked to both you and Kristen and informed you that I was planning to mount my tank above the rail. You both told me this would not be an issue. The tank is also as far forward as it can go. So my question is, is the roll over vent in the wrong location? This is a real problem now because I have had the tank line-x coated. Greg

Re: Boyd Welding-67-72 Rear Mount Aluminum Tank

Dave, if this is the correct location, why so close to the support? Looks like there's plenty of real estate to put it anywhere. I have posted pics for your reference only, not downing your product I like the tank, just want to get it working and on the road. Greg

Re: Boyd Welding-67-72 Rear Mount Aluminum Tank

Greg I had the same problem as you did I mounted mine on top of frame rails. What I did is run a tap in to make the threads deaper pretty much had to bottom out tap but it worked for me.Just put a lot of grease on tap to catch shavings.Hope this helps Brian

Re: Boyd Welding-67-72 Rear Mount Aluminum Tank

Brian, thanks that worked. I bottomed the roll over vent as much as possible earlier, but never thought about running an NPT tap deeper into it. Greg

Re: Boyd Welding-67-72 Rear Mount Aluminum Tank

I'm wondering if you can do a rear tag exit like this camaro tank setup. Would rather not cut into the bed. http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...=Aluminum+tank

Re: Boyd Welding-67-72 Rear Mount Aluminum Tank

Hi, Dave,

I have one of your tanks, a brand new never installed tank, for my truck, and now I am switching to an LT-1 setup. Can I bring my tank to you and have it converted to an EFI tank?

Thanks.

John
