I really wanted to do a 383 from Blueprint. But I think I might have been talked down to a 350, also from blueprint. Something like what Rockenrod put in his. But I still what to go to a local shop that was recommended to see what they have to offer.

Re: Forest's rebuild thread

I am expecting a big box with 390 hp in it tomorrow. I have had my current engine for 21 years and who knows how long the PO had it before me.

Re: Forest's rebuild thread

Got the truck back from engine installation today. It definitely sounds and feels different at idle. I have only basically cruised with it in light traffic. I need to take it easy for the next 500 miles. It is tuned down right now so that I don’t push it hard. The dyno sheet shows around 420 hp and around the same foot pounds. The mechanic said I need a Heavier truck. It sounds like he played with it a little on the freeway. I am excited to see what it can do. I will take photos soon. I am not happy with my new Accessory brackets and everything like the hoses and plug wires need to be routed better.

Re: Forest's rebuild thread

He’s some pictures. It still needs some straitening up. I want to get some accessory brackets that mount lower and more to the side. You might even notice that the ac still doesn’t have a belt on it.

Re: Forest's rebuild thread

So I finally got my new brackets, ac hooked up, old valve covers and filter lid installed. Vary glad to get the ac hooked back up. It’s been around 110 in LA for the last 2 weeks.

Oh yes, those look much better than the first brackets.

Re: Forest's rebuild thread

I had a big surprise today. I have been trying to sell my old motor for a couple of weeks now and a guy cam buy today to purchase it. While looking at the block he ran the numbers on the block and it turns out I have been driving around and buying 350 parts for what turn out to be a 307. I have had this motor in the truck for 21 years. The previous owner told me it was a 350 and I believed him.
