Meet Betty 72 GMC

I found this truck sitting under a tree at the lake neglected for three years.
Runs good with a tune up but I have no dash lights nor gas guage. Looks to be lacking grounding wires from the engine to the firewall. Everything done to this truck was done poorly. Lots of work ahead but hey, I got a truck!

Re: Meet Betty 72 GMC

I have had it for a month and just drove it out yesterday. So much has been done wrong on this and add to that I am a total noob I guess if I can keep it running I will be doing good. I have yet to have one suprise on this that was not negative.

Re: Meet Betty 72 GMC

At this point this will only be an ugly rat truck as I do not have the $$$ or skill to rebuild any of it! Lurking here does give me lots of ideas!

Re: Meet Betty 72 GMC

Did a little wrenching on the 307 today and went and looked at some parts. Most of all I avoided the Charlotte Show and all the goodies I could buy there! Betty is running well enough for a trip to church tomorrow morning.

Re: Meet Betty 72 GMC

Betty is in the shop getting the Turbo 400 adjusted and drive shaft retubed. I am looking for tons of parts but can not post ads here? Not sure why! Her front end aligned well and the 305 is now purring like a kitty.

Betty came home today following a week of chiropractic care from Chris Masingo. The best news is only one part fell off on the way home! Things are looking up!

Re: Meet Betty 72 GMC

After yet another lousy day at work I decided to walk it off at my local bone yard. I found a few items that may help out. An indrilled cowl, yet another dash panel, and an elusive washer/wiper knob!

Like a scene from a truck dream. The woods filled with old trucks all between 1968 and 1972. Parts all over the flora in every step. Wheels, hoods, trim, doors and windows everywhere.

I would love to pick for parts before they go crushed.

I hope to pick up some rally wheels tomorrow. Still reeling from all the C10's I saw in the woods!

Betty got some new shoes! Also an old style air filter that will not fit due to the HEI.
