Switching from 3OTT to automatic

So from the replies to a different thread I'm informed I need a different transmission crossmember. Are these an aftermarket item or are they readily available on our parts forum. Anybody have any pics of what I'm looking for? By the way its for a SBC.
Thanks

Re: Switching from 3OTT to automatic

I think the automatic cross member is different ....but wait until the experts weigh in.
That said, if it turns out that you need one....advertise as 'WTB' in the parts section and you'll probably have what you need within a couple of weeks (or less)...I don't think these are really expensive items used and this would be the place to find a spare one.

Regards,
Coley

Re: Switching from 3OTT to automatic

Yes, the 3 spds all had a cross member that bolts to the bell housing, which will not work for an auto.

Any 67-72 automatic cross member will work, but they are getting hard to come by/find. I have no experience with aftermarket ones, but as suggested, post a "want to buy" in the for sale area and see what happens.
