Ez wiring under hood wiring

Anyone use the ez wire 21 circuit kit with an LS swap? there is a ton of power wires im not sure how or if they get used. i have a thread over in the electrical section that vettevette helped me out with for the rest of the truck. now im at the engine side and need to see what gets used and not used.

this is the original link:
https://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/...d.php?t=835572

the engine harness has the obvious, headlights, markers, horn, etc. but im wondering what these will go to..or if they will get deleted:

Alternator exciter
Alternator power
Coil positive
Solenoid power
Choke power
Ignition switch power

Now, my ls engine harness is all plugged up ready to go, with the 4 common wires needing to be finished. Fuel pump, 12 volt key, 12 volt battery, and starter. I dont know if im on the right track here...but the plan was to run my fuel pump wire all the back to the fuel pump (obviously), the 12 volt key will get ran back inside the cab where i have a 12 volt key power strip i made (or can it go to ignition switch power from ez wire kit?), the 12 volt battery will run to the battery. the starter wire from the ls harness im guessing can be wired to the "solenoid power" from the ez kit?

Any help would be appreciated! Last step i have before i get to try and turn it on for the first time! If any pictures are needed please let me know.

Re: Ez wiring under hood wiring

I used the American autowire on mine..the only wire that connects the truck side to the LS side is the switch on wire, for that I used the AA wire that would normally go to the coil

Re: Ez wiring under hood wiring

so coil wire to 12 volt constant?

is there one i listed that would be a 12 volt key? for me to tie in the ls 12 volt key wire in. if not, i can run it inside the cab to the 12 volt key power strip i made.

"solenoid power" would be the one that runs to the purple starter wire in the ls harness?

Re: Ez wiring under hood wiring

no.. the 12v coil wire is what i used to go to the 12v switch on wire..
the 12v constant comes from the battery on mine

Re: Ez wiring under hood wiring

oh ok. so I'm assuming the ez wire "ignition switch power" should need a constant 12 volt and will run straight to the battery? it's the only one I can think of that would feed the whole fuse box with power.

the ls 12 volt key will run to the coil wire.

the ls 12 volt battery will go to the battery.

the ls purple starter should go to the solenoid wire from the ez wire kit.

so solenoid power, ignition switch power, and coil wire will be the only ones used from the ez kit.

Re: Ez wiring under hood wiring

So the ECM needs 12 volt constant (all the time) and 12 volts in start and run.
The purple wire is the keyed start wire to the starter. If you are running an auto you need to run the purple wire to the neutral safety switch and then to the starter.
Yes on the fuel pump wire. That wire should be part of your LS engine harness relay. When you turn the key the pump should run for a few seconds if you don't go all the way to start. To keep the fuel pump running the ECM needs to see crank shaft rotation.

Re: Ez wiring under hood wiring

ah yes, your right. I already ran it to the stock column NSS. I just did not realize it's the same wire. so in the instructions it has 2 wires running to the starter on a stock small block setup, the purple ignition start, and the solenoid power. the LS is not the same I'm assuming. so if the purple "ignition switch start" goes to the starter wire in the LS harness, what happens to the "solenoid power".... run it straight to the battery?

Re: Ez wiring under hood wiring

im not sure how your running your wires...but all wires going to the starter will be the same setup..SB or LS..
battery to the starter solenoid post,, and the crank/ign wire from the switch to the starter..like pointed out , thru a nss switch
for the LS, you need the constant 12v to the ecm from the battery or the big post on the starter or other 12v source..
and you need the 12v switch on to the ecm ( i used the coil wire)

Re: Ez wiring under hood wiring

ahhh your right. ok. this is why I ask questions before wiring anything up! I will check today what I have run to the starter so far. when I repinned the stock harness I left the original starter purple wire in it, and connected it to the starter. the stock engine harness also has a battery junction that I swear it has a cable that runs to the starter but I'll check

Re: Ez wiring under hood wiring

ok, peeked up under there and i do have 2 wires running to it already. smaller top stud has the stock LS engine harness purple wire. so this will be tied into the EZ wire purple "ignition start switch"...which runs into the cab to the NSS on the column, then to the ignition switch.

the bottom lug has a big wire running to the stock LS engine harness junction box (little red box that bolts on the engine). so, im assuming the EZ wire red "solenoid power" needs to run down to the same lug on the starter, correct?

so will end up with the following:

EZ wire harness: red "solenoid power wire" to big starter lug
EZ wire harness: coil wire to 12 volt key LS harness.
EZ wire harness: purple "ignition switch power" to LS engine harness starter wire

LS engine harness 12 volt battery straight to battery
LS engine harness fuel pump run all the way back to the fuel pump power wire
